A Salute To Young Musicians: Capital City Community Band to hold free concert
The Capital City Community Band will present its annual “Salute To Young Musicians” concert on Sunday, March 24, 2024, 2 p.m. in the Bob Boldrick Theatre at the Carson City Community Center.
One of the featured young musicians will be CHS senior Zachary Carpenter performing “The Grumbly Old Bear” on the tuba. Zach began playing the trombone in fifth grade at Fremont Elementary School and added the tuba to his musical skills in high school.
Additionally, Zach plays percussion in the CHS Winter Drum line and in Wind Ensemble when needed, has been a multi-year member of the CHS Blue Thunder marching band, and is a member of CCCB.
The concert will also feature Jonah Toral and Ashton Fajayan on “Duelin’ Xylos”, a xylophone duet. Jonah and Ashton are recent graduates of Carson High School and both have performed with the CCCB in years past. Several other student groups will perform, including the CHS Winter Drum Line and the CHS Clarinet Choir.
The CCCB portion of the concert will feature a variety of music, including circus marches, “Clarinet Candy,” “Irish Washerwoman,” and “Salute To American Jazz."

The recipient of the Capital City Community Band Richard Doede Music Scholarship will also be announced at the concert. The concert is free and open to all members of our community and surrounding areas
The Bob Boldrick Theatre at the Carson City Community Center is located at 851 E William St.
Come and join the band in celebrating 46 years of sharing music with our community and enjoy the sounds of the next generation of Carson City musicians. As always, the concert is FREE but donations are happily accepted.
