Carson City Build2Win workshop on General Improvement District this Saturday, Feb. 17
Carson City's Build2Win is sponsoring a workshop to understand proposed General Improvement Districts (GID) for road maintenance.
GID is just 1 of 4 funding options under consideration by the Board of Supervisors. The GID option is projecting to raise $14M per year out of the $21M annual funding deficit. GID funds will be used for all expenditures related to roads per the last open house facilitated by the City.
You may have questions such as:
What is the maximum amount per year that will be assessed for the GID?
Is there a cap for the GID assessment, similar to the annual property tax amount?
Who will pay for the GID assessment and who will be exempted?
Will the resident vote on the GID through a ballot or will it be decided by resolution of the Board of Supervisors?
Will the GID ever end? By what method?
What is the minimum term of the GID if any?
Was there a road maintenance reserve initiated as the deficit grew over the years?
How much can you afford per year as a property owner or as a user of Carson City roads?
If you are curious about any of these questions, please attend the town hall on February 17th. Test your understanding of the GID before this is up for a vote on the Board of Supervisors meeting agenda.
Saturday, February 17, 2024. Start 10:30am, Ormsby Room, Sheriff's Building, 911 E Musser Street, Carson City.
Free to attend but donations to Build2Win welcome.
