VIRGINIA CITY — Dec. 4-5, 2021, St. Mary’s Art Center, historic landmark and former St. Mary Louise Hospital built in 1875, will host more than 22 artists and makers for a festive, vibrant and fun weekend of arts, crafts, refreshments, and holiday music.

The Max Casino in Carson City has partnered with the Salvation Army to host the annual turkey drop to benefit Carson City and Douglas County families in need. The event is from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., this Thursday and Friday, Nov. 18-19, 2021.

Carson City author Karen Salita will hold a signing and open house event for her book "101 Soul Seeds for Reinventing Yourself" this Saturday at Adams Hub.

Contemporary art exhibition “Inheritance: Basketry and Art of the Great Basin” will be on display through June 3, 2022, at the Stewart Indian School Cultural Center & Museum. Curator Melissa Melero-Moose announced the new exhibition, which opened last week in the museum’s Great Basin Native Artists Gallery.

Carson Valley Community Theater and the Douglas High School Drama Department have teamed up for a production of "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee." Auditions are Dec. 1 at 6:00 p.m. and December 4 at 10:00 a.m. The cast includes both adults and teens.

Piano accompaniment is available or bring your own music. 

Show dates are March 18, 19, 25 and 26 at 7:30, March 20 and 27 at 2:00pm.

The Carson City School District will host a virtual Community PLC (Professional Learning Community) meeting Wednesday, Nov. 17, 6 p.m., via Zoom. The meeting will discuss the goals, objectives and strategies of the district’s current strategic plan.

While most adults know that money doesn’t grow on trees, it can be challenging to teach kids the important financial skills needed to set themselves up for success. To help parents teach their children the realities of managing a finite budget, Greater Nevada Credit Union will again be offering Bite of Reality, a virtual financial education program designed especially for teens ages 13 and over.

Secrets of Harridge House, Northern Nevada's original radio drama, is holding auditions on December 4th and 5th.
