More rain for Carson City as weather system moves into region
Submitted by editor on Sun, 06/05/2011 - 10:21amA weather system that has been spiraling off the California coast this weekend will bring moderate to heavy rain into Carson City and Western Nevada tonight and early Monday, the National Weather Service in Reno reports.
Up to an inch of rain is possible for Carson City, Reno, Douglas County and the Lake Tahoe Basin, with the possibility of minor flooding along small streams and creeks, according to the weather service and CarsonWeather.com.

Road report for June 6-12
Submitted by admin on Sat, 06/04/2011 - 7:52amDue to utility work, Musser Street will be closed between Carson Street and Curry Street on Thursday, June 9, at 7:30 p.m. The road is expected to reopen at 5:30 a.m. on Friday, June 10. Once Musser Street has been reopened, a lane closure with flagger control is expected throughout the remainder of the day.
Sidewalk improvements will continue along Long Street between Molly Drive and Saliman Road. Minor delays are possible and JAC bus stops in this area may be temporarily closed.

As many of you know, May is National Bike Month. Here in Carson City, several events and rides were held, capped by Bike To Work Week from May 16-20 and the celebration on the 20th outside the Firkin & Fox. As reported, about 150 people came by to visit, enjoy others’ bikes, and get a chance to win a raffle prize. The Nevada Legislature passed two bills in its current session that benefit cyclists (see sidebar below).
Construction Defect Reform Measure Criticized As Inadequate By Building Industry

John Madole, representing the Nevada Chapter of the Associated General Contractors, told the panel the best option would be to not proceed with Assembly Bill 401, proposed by Assembly Speaker John Oceguera, D-Las Vegas.

Some Republicans will support the governor and vote in favor of the fiscal compromise consisting of hard-won reform bills and the extension of some taxes that were set to expire. Many others will likely cast “no” votes in a principled protest against tax extensions.
