The class in Carson City will be on Monday, July 11, beginning at 2 p.m., at the Carson City Library, 900 North Roop Street.

A brush fire burning tonight at Brunswick Canyon is between 30 to 40 acres and is growing but no structures are threatened, said Carson City Fire Chief Stacey Giomi.
The fire is located past the Old Mill in the canyon area and on the south side of the Carson River, Giomi said. The area is steep and dense with cheat grass with some pinyon and juniper, he added.

A project to complete a new north-south water transmission line on the east side of Carson City will result in one lane traffic with flagger controls from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on weekdays for the following roads:

Last night, a Rangers fan fell 20 feet onto concrete on his head after reaching out over the railing to catch a baseball tossed by Josh Hamilton. The fan was bloody but appeared to be stable as he was talking with fans and paramedics to make sure that his 6 year old son was going to be taken care of. Everyone assured him that his son would be okay. The fan passed away later that evening in the hospital.

CARSON CITY – Secretary of State Ross Miller has denied requests from Esmeralda and Nye counties to expand the number of mail ballot only precincts in their counties for the special election to fill the 2nd Congressional District seat set for Sept. 13.
While both counties claimed they would realize modest cost savings by designating more mail ballot only precincts, Miller said his overriding concern is the integrity of the election process.
