Santa Claus will make an express run on the Nevada State Railroad Museum’s steam train pulled by V&T Railway locomotive No. 25 on two December weekends. The museum’s Santa Train departs Carson City’s Wabuska Depot at the corner of Fairview Drive and U.S. 395 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 1 and 2 and again on Dec. 15 and 16.

Trains run continuously throughout the day, sun, rain or snow. Each Santa Train trip leaves the depot as soon as Santa and passengers have boarded. Tickets are $3 per seat and available at the depot.

A year-old child reportedly fell out of a two-story apartment complex in the 1200 block of Carson Meadows and Como Street in Carson City Monday afternoon. The baby will be taken by Care Flight, which was ordered by Carson City Fire Department and paramedics at the scene. The emergency call came shortly after 2 p.m.
Care Flight was to reportedly land near the Boys and Girls Club and will take the child to Renown Medical Center in Reno.
No other details have been made available.

With widespread use of social media among adults and children, there's been an uptick in the amount of cyber-bullying cases brought to Carson City area school officials and law enforcement. Nevada Attorney General Catherine Cortez Masto will discuss this and other internet safety concerns on Saturday, Nov. 10 beginning at 2:30 p.m. The presentation, geared for parents, students and educators, will touch on cyber-predators, sexting and cyber-bullying.

The highly anticipated annual Dungeness crab sport fishery opened statewide Nov. 3.
Every year at this time, recreational crab fishing enthusiasts set out in pursuit of these tasty crustaceans. Some set hoop nets and crab traps from boats and piers while others fish crab loop traps on the end of a fishing rod. Still others will dive in to take the crabs by hand.

An anonymous tip about a vehicle used in drug transactions and phone text messages about drug sales led to the arrest of three Carson City residents for possession with the intent to sell.
The arrests were made near the area of 700 Hot Springs Road at 1:40 a.m. Oct. 29. According to the Carson City Sheriff's Office arrest report, a deputy was parked outside an apartment building and was speaking with a Capital City patrol officer. A vehicle drove up to the apartment complex that matched the vehicle description provided by the anonymous tipster.

An anonymous donor has pledged to match up to $25,000 of donations from the community for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Nevada by the end of the year.
For the second year in a row, the former Carson City resident and business owner who wishes to remain anonymous has made the offer to the club.

CARSON CITY – Gov. Brian Sandoval announced today that the Clark County School District’s  $40 million Race to the Top grant application will move forward with the support of the Clark County Education Association.

The Capital City Arts Initiative's exhibition, BRIC Art 3, presents artwork by six northern Nevada artists at the City's Business Resource Innovation Center (BRIC). The exhibition features Jill Altmann's fiber art, Steve Davis' photography, Andy Gallian's prints, Mimi Patrick's ceramics, Stephen Reid's drawings and watercolors, and Gus Bundy's paintings.
