Bucking most Republicans and GOP Senate hopeful Sharron Angle, U.S. Rep. Dean Heller, R-Carson City, voted in favor of the House bill to extend unemployment benefits, despite his history of voting against most Democratic-backed economic measures, reports the Las Vegas Sun.

Of the 152 bill draft requests submitted so far, mostly by lawmakers, three deal with cell phone use in vehicles: two to prohibit texting and a third to “restrict cell phone use� while driving.

CARSON CITY – The Nevada Division of Insurance is alerting Nevadans to a new federal website for information about the temporary high risk health insurance pool program created by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.
The pool, which is to provide coverage to uninsured individuals with pre-existing conditions, is accepting applications beginning today.

It may be second verse but basic common sense deserves reminding from time-to-time as we approach the holiday weekend.

The chosen developer of the Carson City Center, also known as the Nugget Project, presented three different options of what the project might look like tonight at the Carson City Community Center. (See the play-by-play notes here.)
The plans presented were best-case scenarios, since the feasibility studies are not yet complete.
The plans all had the same basic pieces that included the library/discovery center, office buildings, retail space and a parking garage.

CARSON CITY – Nevada Budget Director Andrew Clinger said today he does not believe Congress will act to extend Medicaid funding that was counted on by lawmakers in February when they approved an $800 million plan to balance the state budget.
