The California Department of Fish and Game (DFG) reminds people enjoying the Lake Tahoe Basin to take precautions to avoid black bear encounters. This area is prime black bear habitat, and many of these wild animals are not afraid of humans.
Recently, a bear had to be killed after a man in his tent was injured as the bear tried to break in.
Bears are constantly searching for food, which humans inadvertently make obtainable to them.

Frankie Lee Lemos, 40, of Mill Creek, Washington, was arrested Monday morning by a Carson City deputy in Douglas County after he allegedly bit off part of his brother's finger during an argument in a bar.

According to the arrest report, deputies were called to a bar on East Long Street where they met the suspect's brother, minus one part of his left pinky finger. The victim told deputies that his brother had left the bar in a cab after the incident.

You would normally think it's minors who get busted for fake IDs when it comes to buying alcohol, but in this case, a gas station clerk was arrested after he sold alcohol to a 16-year-old decoy, and was found to have a false identification.

Gurpreet Singh Gill, 28, was arrested Monday evening in the 1100 block of North Carson Street for felony possession of false ID and misdemeanor unlawful sale of alcohol to a minor.

This morning at the Nevada State Railroad Museum, the boys have all the toys out of the barn, including the Inyo steam engine and the McKeen motor car. Carson City firefighters were able to get a good jump on a brush fire burning early this afternoon near the Bertagnolli quarry in the Brunswick Canyon area. Reports coming in via police scanner is that the fire is under control and mop up has begun.
As of about 1:15 this afternoon much of the fire was said to have been knocked down, no structures were burned and cleanup had begun. Flames were reportedly six feet high with the fire generating lots of smoke. The fire, reported at 12:35, was said to be about 100 x 100 feet wide, according to police scanner traffic.
