Youth Theatre Carson City is excited to announce our upcoming production of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella, America’s favorite adaptation of the classic tale, to be held April 5-7 in the Bob Boldrick Theatre at the Carson City Community Center.

The cast is comprised of over 75 local youth ages five to eighteen, who play all the classic characters including Cinderella, her Prince Charming, The Wicked Stepmother and Stepsisters, the magical Fairy Godmother, and a host of other colorful characters who bring Rodger’s and Hammerstein’s masterwork to life!

A herd of wild horses removed from an area off of Deer Run Road last month were purchased Saturday at a Bureau of Land Management adoption in Carson City.

The BLM-sanctioned silent bid adoption was held at Silver Saddle Ranch. The horses were bought for $850 by the Deer Run Preservation Group in a collaborative effort with the American Wildhorse Preservation Campaign.

About 100 people attended the auction, many of whom were supporting the group and its efforts to save the horses.

Here is the Carson City road construction and maintenance report for the week of March 25-31.
Because of continued construction of the Carson City Freeway project, Snyder Avenue is closed between E. Roland Street and Center Drive. Center Drive and Silver Sage Drive are also closed south of Appion Way. Bennett Avenue is closed between Center Drive and Bigelow Drive. Detours will be marked.

CARSON CITY — Sixteen legislators have signed on to joint resolution that would remove wording in the state constitution that defines marriage as between a man and woman.
Voters decided to define marriage in the Nevada Constitution as between a man and woman. The amendment required two votes, with the last taking place roughly eleven years ago.

Considering how many years I spent building and managing the websites of the Nevada Appeal and its sister publications, I was interested to see them roll out a completely new web platform and design last week.

The look is very clean, though almost in a retro-1999 way, and they do work better on mobile devices. But they removed so much navigation that it makes it hard to find what you are looking for, and the keyword search is deathly slow, when it works at all.

A 27-year-old Carson City man faces a felony charge of being in violation of parole after he was found Thursday under the influence of drugs at a gas station. He was also allegedly in possession of drug paraphernalia and told a witness, concerned about his well being, that he was "on H" which is street slang for heroin.
