NDOT to host public webinar to update Nevada's electric vehicle infrastructure

The Nevada Department of Transportation is inviting the public to a webinar to receive an update on the Department’s progress and future plans in collaborative efforts to build a reliable statewide electric vehicle charging network. The Zoom webinar will take place on Wednesday, July 12 from 2-3 p.m. and will be available online later for those unable to attend.

The Carson City Sheriff's Office on Saturday identified a Mound House man who was found dead in the Carson River after being reported missing during a kayak trip that began July 2.

I’m discouraged and upset. After using metal drums and troughs to plant vegetables in, putting down cardboard and mulch, and then framing the tubs in with fenced netting (see picture below), a dang ground squirrel still dug underneath the cardboard and fencing. He got into the pot and proceeded to dig up radishes and damage the roots of the zucchini. Fortunately, he ignored the developing squash.

Forest Service to thin trees to restore aspen stands on east shore of Lake Tahoe

The USDA Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit is scheduled to begin thinning trees by hand on Monday, July 10, 2023, on the south end of Prey Meadows north of Glenbrook on the East Shore of Lake Tahoe.

New traffic signal coming begins Monday in Tahoe at Zephyr Cove; parking restrictions enforced

The new Nevada Department of Transportation project in Zephyr Cove gets started on Monday. There will be lane reductions and permanent roadside parking restrictions as a new traffic signal is installed to improve safety on US50 near Warrior Way.

First responders, Search and Rescue respond to report of body found in Brunswick Canyon

UPDATE 5:30 p.m.: The body has been tentatively identified as one of the missing kayakers. The name of the deceased is being held until next of kin are notified. The body is being transported to Washoe County for a full autopsy. The canyon is reopened to the public and the scene has been cleared.

UPDATE 5:12 p.m.: Sheriff Furlong said one deceased male was retrieved. No ID has been announced at this time.

UPDATE 3:20 p.m.: Sheriff Furlong sent a photo (seen above) of the staging area of the body where responders are working to extract it.

Carson City Moose Lodge, Feisty Goat host Mill's Park Wine Train July 14

On July 14, the Carson City Moose Lodge 2709 is having the second annual wine train event in Mills Park from 4:30 to 7:00. There will be three train stops for the riders get off and taste some premium wines and craft beers.

Each ticket allows for 10 samplings and only 100 tickets will be sold for the price of $20 per ticket.
