Carson City Juvenile Service’s next monthly Parent Education Night is Wednesday, July 19 at 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., at Carson City Probation Office, located at 740 S. Saliman Road Carson City.

This month we will discuss high-risk behavior among our youth and provide education for parents and community members how to combat those risk factors such as social media, negative peer pressure, substance use and more.

Nevada State Police, Highway Patrol Division confirms one person died and one suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries in a crash Tuesday afternoon involving a commercial tour bus and a single vehicle on US-50 West at Spooner Summit.

According to NHP, the preliminary information known is that an Amador Stagecoach tour bus with 17 passengers was traveling westbound on US-50. An SUV traveling southbound on SR 28 made a left onto US-50 east to Carson City. For unconfirmed reasons, the two vehicles collided.

Special Olympics Nevada and The Law Enforcement Torch Run are teaming up to host a special “Tip-A-Cop” fundraiser event at Chili’s Bar & Grill. Law enforcement officers, along with Special Olympics Nevada athletes, will volunteer their time as “celebrity waiters,” interacting and serving guests for tips.
