At our best, Western Nevada welcomes all people – from conservative to liberal, religious to atheist, old to young, gay to straight. It’s with that spirit that the event received a variety of prizes and individual support.

High school level lacrosse is now available to all Carson City area boys ages 14 to 17 through the Carson Lax Club. The final pre-season overview of the fast-approaching spring program will be presented Tuesday evening, Nov. 28, from 6 - 7 p.m. inside Bully's 3530 North Carson Street.

Carson High debate wrapped up its third league tournament at Reed High School over the weekend. This tournament hosted 16 schools and 184 individual competitors.

The team continued its very successful season with students advancing into finals in both a wide range of speech and debate events.

Eighth grader Mackenzie Harper hadn’t realized all the work that goes into producing turkeys for Thanksgiving. But on Monday, she and other students at Smith Valley School got a taste of what it takes to get the birds to the dinner plate.

Thanksgiving is serious business for students at the K-12 school located in Smith Valley, a rural, agricultural community that sits between Yerington and Gardnerville. For the past decade, the school’s students have been running a turkey farm where they raise and sell the birds for community members to eat for the holiday.
