Today is the final day for the 76th regular session of the Nevada Legislature, as lawmakers hurry to finish up work on a number of bills before time runs out.

It has been a session that has seen acrimony and record protests as legislators struggle to deal with the state's lagging economy. In the end, it was a Nevada Supreme Court decision that paved the way for a compromise between Republican Gov. Brian Sandoval and Democrats who control both houses of the legislature.

A Carson City man was jailed Sunday morning after allegedly trying to hit a woman with his car, and then eluding officers near Russell Way and Northridge.

According to the arrest report, Anthony Todd Martin, 30, was also found in possession of burglary tools, equipment used for syphoning gasoline, drug paraphernalia, a prescription drug that didn't belong to the suspect, and a cache of jewelry that matched the description of items listed as stolen in a string of recent burglaries in the area.

CARSON CITY – The third piece of a package of campaign finance reform bills sought by Secretary of State Ross Miller this legislative session is on its way to Gov. Brian Sandoval for his consideration.
The bill was sent to Sandoval today after the Senate on Saturday receded from an amendment it had previously approved to Assembly Bill 81.

A weather system that has been spiraling off the California coast this weekend will bring moderate to heavy rain into Carson City and Western Nevada tonight and early Monday, the National Weather Service in Reno reports.

Up to an inch of rain is possible for Carson City, Reno, Douglas County and the Lake Tahoe Basin, with the possibility of minor flooding along small streams and creeks, according to the weather service and CarsonWeather.com.
