RENO, Nev. – Nearly 2,300 students will move into the University of Nevada, Reno’s residence halls starting Thursday, Aug. 25 in preparation for Monday’s first day of classes for the 2011 fall semester.

Spending on back-to-school supplies in Nevada will likely remain stagnant this year, but a jump in online sales could reduce the portion of state retailers.
A National Retail Federation (NRF) survey estimates 31.7 percent and 33.4 percent of families with K-12 children and college-aged students, respectively, will be doing most of their back-to-school shopping online. That is up over last year from 30.8 percent and 28.6 percent.

RENO- With the Aces having a commanding seven and a half game lead in the Pacific North Division with over the Tacoma Rainiers thanks in part from taking the first two games in this four game series against Tacoma. Reno looked to distance themselves even more from Tacoma on Monday night.

The Aces got a very quick start with the bats in the first inning behind two RBI doubles from Tony Abreu (scoring Evan Frey and Angel Berroa), and Cole Gillespie (scoring Abreu) off of Tacoma starter LHP Luke French (8-8, 6.12 ERA) for an eary 3-0 lead.
