Probation was revoked Monday for a 30-year-old Carson City woman with multiple violations including failure to make restitution for credit card fraud totaling $2,400.

District Judge Michael Gibbons ordered Tibbi Z. Way to serve 32 months in Nevada State Prison, and gave her credit for 92 days in custody.

On Saturday morning Carson City Sheriff's deputies arrested William Lloyd Bennett, 35, for felony burglary and home invasion, after a report that the suspect had broken into an apartment in the 1600 block of Stewart Street and "trashed" the place, including writing on the walls in blood.

Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval commended Sierra Lutheran High School's strong academic program and its overall approach to education during his special address at the school's Campus Consecration & Open House event yesterday.

Before an estimated audience of over 400 students, parents, and community members, Sandoval traced SLHS's success to the words of Matthew 7:24, "Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock."

The Safeway supermarket that has operated on North Carson Street since 1973 will be closing on Nov. 23, according to notice sent out by the company today.

The notice reads:

This morning, we informed our employees of our intent to close this store permanently effective November 23rd.

We have approximately 50 employees (full and part-time). All will be offered positions - at our Reno, Fallon or Lake Tahoe stores, should they so desire to transfer.

We've operated this store in Carson City since 1973 and we have truly appreciated the support of the community.

This weekend saw two more tragedies for the motorsports world with Nevada connections.

Most people have already heard about or seen the video replays of the horrific IndyCar crash in Las Vegas on Sunday that claimed the life of two-time Indy 500 champion Dan Wheldon.

The same day, off-road racer Rick Huseman was killed in a plane crash in California after taking off from North Las Vegas.
