You've got one more chance to see "Forever Plaid," a musical trip through time with a quartet of the same name. Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. at the Brewery Arts Performance Hall in Carson City is closing night for this very musical comedy about four men who died in a car crash on their way to their first public performance as Forever Plaid.
Starring is this look back at music of the 1950s-1960s are a quartet of singers and comics — Marshall Brodeur (the sort of MC), Leoney Berg, James McDuffie and Corey B. Stockton. The show is directed by Stuart Ross. And he has done a fine job.

Nevada Department of Public Safety - Division of Parole and Probation officers arrested Andrew Kay at his home in Washoe Valley, Nevada on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 for Probation Violation. The arrest of Kay resulted in the seizure of multiple weapons.

On May 11, 2011, Andrew Kay was placed on probation supervision for 14 felony and two gross misdemeanor convictions; Conspiracy to Commit a Crime, Burglary (two counts), Grand Larceny, Malicious Destruction of Property (five counts) and Possession of Stolen Property (five counts).

The Carson City Sheriff's Office will be hosting a joint training exercise with several other area police departments on Saturday, April 21 at 505 E. King Street (the old Kinkead building). Residents are being warned that on the day of the excerise they may hear what appears to be gunshots from the area around that facility.

Carson City Sheriff's deputies arrested the following individuals on felony or gross misdemeanor allegations:

  • Cody Scott McChesney, 32, an unemployed Carson City man, for two uttering a forged instrument warrants in his name. McChesney was also arrested on a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant. McChesney turned himself in at the Carson City Detention Facility on Wednesday afternoon. No bail has been set.

Opening night at the Fernley 95A Speedway clay oval in Fernley, NV. Racing divisions include IMCA Modifieds, Pro Stock, Hobby Stock, Pure Stock Minis, Modified Minis, Dwarf Cars, and Box Stock Outlaw Karts. Spectator gates open at 3PM, racing starts at 6PM.

General admission is $8, with $5 tickets for seniors over 55 and kids under 8-14. Youngsters seven and under are free, as are disabled persons and military in uniform. The tailgate section will cost you $30 per carload, or $20 for driver and one passenger.

For the past few weeks, we've been subjected to dueling columns on the Carson City Center Project, aka Nugget Project.

First you had the side that wants the question put on the ballot in November via a petition. Then, you had the project supporters who tried to push back against this effort, insisting that our elected officials should handle it.

I think you can now officially score this a win for the ballot petition.

Rehabilitated through Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care, a total of six orphaned bear cubs have been returned to the wild this spring, ending the California Department of Fish and Game's 2012 yearling bear release program.
The cubs were found in various locations around the state in the summer months of 2011 and were rehabilitated at Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care prior to being judged ready to return to the wild. The state program is ongoing and will continue as new cubs come into the facility.
