Han Duck-soo, South Korea's ambassador to the United States, was in Carson City Thursday with Kathleen Stephens, former U.S. ambassador to South Korea, while touring Northern Nevada to explain the business impact and potential of a new free trade agreement under consideration in Washington.

A prescribed fire on Upper Kingsbury Grade conducted two weeks ago rekindled, touching off about 14 acres before it was fully contained late this morning, according to the U.S. Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit.

"The fire is 100 percent contained," said spokeswoman Cheva Heck.

Fire crews respond to the rekindling off Andria Drive on Kingsbury Grade, near Stateline. Three Forest Service crews and two engines responded. Cold weather and high winds had created difficult conditions for firefighters and interfered with the ability to pump water from engines.

At around 10 p.m. Wednesday evening, Carson City Sheriff's officers arrested Corey Allan Madieros, 19, a construction worker from Gardnerville, near the 1300 block of South Carson Street. Madieros was arrested for a Parole and Probation violation; no bail was set.
