"Shall Carson City, Nevada, be authorized to impose an additional sales tax of up to ¼ of 1 percent pursuant to NRS Chapter 377A to finance the design, construction, and maintenance of a library and public plaza park in the downtown on lands donated by the Hop and Mae Adams Foundation?"

Alpine County's Indian Creek Campground, adjacent to Indian Creek Reservoir, will close for the season at noon on Oct. 8, the Bureau of Land Management Carson City District-Sierra Front Field Office announced.
The campground will be closed through winter, and reopen May 3, 2013.
The east side of Indian Creek Reservoir will still be available for access off the entry road maintained by Alpine County, weather-permitting.

A motorcyclist was injured this morning after crashing at the intersection of Fairview and Saliman in Carson City. The motorcyclist was reportedly transported to the Carson City Airport where he was airlifted to Renown Medical Center.
The accident, reported shortly after 7 a.m. had the westbound lane of Fairview shut down as paramedics responded to the motorcyclist, who was conscious but suffered from a back injury, according to EMTs on the scene.
No other vehicles were said to be involved in this morning's crash, according to authorities at the scene.

A “Yes” vote on CC-1 will increase our Carson City debt to over $250 million in dire economic times. For what? Another library at a total debt over $4,500 for every man, woman and child in Carson City! San Bernardino, which just went bankrupt, has one-third that per person debt! What’s the need?

We already have 31 libraries - four separate public libraries, libraries in each of the 12 public schools, three museum libraries, 11 private school libraries and the Business Resource Innovation Center library. The present

The closure of some U.S. Forest Service recreational facilities around the Lake Tahoe Basin has begun. Campgrounds and day-use areas traditionally close around mid-October. While forest roads typically close around mid-November, you may consult the Motor Vehicle Use Map for specific dates by going here. The Taylor Creek Visitor Center will remain open through October, according to a news release.

Several hundred Nevadans who registered to vote through the Secretary of State’s online system Tuesday may not have received confirmation of their registration status. A record number of users, 3,221, accessed registertovotenv.gov on October 2, surpassing the 3,000-person daily cap set by the system.

Elaine and I just returned from a fabulous, four-day, three-night visit to the Sierra Nevada, just west of Bishop, Calif. I highly recommend that each and every one of you duplicate our fun-filled trip and be sure to do it as soon as you can within the next two weeks.
The purpose of our visit to the mountains was two-fold:
1. To photograph the fall colors of the Quaking Aspen trees and bushes.
2. To fish for trout in some of the waters in that area.
We succeeded beyond our wildest imagination on both purposes.

Surprise someone with a front yard full of bright pink flamingos! For a donation you can have a flock of flamingos migrate to a residential front lawn in Carson City.
"Flockers" will deliver the birds to unsuspecting yards where they have been directed to roost, usually arriving unnoticed in the cloak of darkness. The recipient will be left with an explanation and care instructions. After 24-48 hours the Flamingo Advanced Retrieval Team (F.A.R.T.) will remove the flamingos and bring them to the next "victim."

At least two people sustained non-life threatening injuries and one was treated at the scene after a car drove into The Eye Center at 1299 Mountain Street in Carson City. The accident was reported shortly after 9 a.m. Witnesses to the accident said they heard a crash and saw that a car was inside the storage area of the building.
Two people were inside the car that was in the building. Both were able to get out though one person was partially trapped. A Jeep was clipped by the car before it went into the building. Debris from the accident area was scattered about 30-40 feet.
