In the three months since the Carson City Board of Supervisors approved the Carson City Center Project (aka Nugget Project), proponents of the project's Knowledge and Discovery Center have been gearing up their fundraising efforts to meet the $21.5 million commitment.

The Carson City School Board will meet next Tuesday to discuss extending the contract of Superintendent Richard Stokes.

The board will also review Stokes' job performance over the past year, and discuss his goals for 2012.

The meeting will be held on Dec. 27 at 7 p.m. at in the Sierra Room of the Carson City Community Center. You can see the live video here. The full agenda is below:

Carson City Sheriff's deputies arrested Anthony Eugene "Tony" Wygant-Woolery, 43, an unemployed Carson City man, around noon near the 900 block of East Long St. Wygant-Woolery was arrested for a previous felony possession of a controlled substance warrant. No bail has been set.

Just after 11 p.m. Wednesday evening, officers arrested Billy Wayne Campini, 39, an unemployed Carson City man, near the intersection of Carson and Corbett streets. Campini was arrested on a felony Fugitive from Justice warrant issued in his name, out of Placerville. Bail is set at $10,000.

The Carson High School Chamber Choir - the most advanced group of choir students at the high school - gave an impromptu, and much applauded, selection of Christmas and Hanukkah music to the surprised (and delighted) patrons and employees of the Department of Motor Vehicles this Thursday afternoon. This is the third year they have appeared at the DMV.

CARSON CITY, Nev. — Cold weather exercise has its drawbacks. Some of the drawbacks are mental. But a lot of them are physical. Cold stiff muscles don’t lend themselves to quick fitness and sports moves. A person’s range of motion also takes a big dip when it’s cold.

The human body functions best within a very narrow range of outside temperature, usually between 65 and 75 degrees with a humidity reading of about 45 percent. The further you get from this ideal temperature range, the harder it becomes for your body to compensate.

At approximately 8 a.m. Monday morning, an officer accepted Omar Segura-Hernandez, 28, a Carson City resident, into the Carson City Detention Facility on Musser St. Segura-Hernandez was originally arrested for a felony failure to appear warrant issued in his name. Upon arrival at the detention facility, the booking officer accessed Segura-Hernandez' records and discovered a felony US Marshall hold for felon in possession of a firearm and a misdemeanor NHP failure to appear for a traffic violation hold. Both felony charges carry no bail.
