To streamline the review and deliberation of items crucial to the Lake Tahoe Regional Plan Update, the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency Governing Board on Wednesday chartered a new committee to focus on update of the Plan.
The formation of this committee comes on the heels of the annual Lake Tahoe Summit where federal and state representatives urged swift completion of the plan update.

If you have a desire to cruise Hot August Nights in style, check out the classic car auction going on today through Sunday at Silver Oak Golf Course.

There are more than 500 cars up for auction, everything from classic antiques to 70s muscle cars. Out of that 500, 150 cars come from the collection of Carson City businessman Garth Richards.

The event kicked off yesterday, and they celebrated with a fireworks display last night.

Most experienced Carson City hikers would probably never consider starting a trip from the beginning of the Heavenly Mountain Resort's Gondola lift in South Lake Tahoe. It's not the most challenging trek around Carson City — you can always do Prison Hill from the river side or the city side and have a good view of Carson City and Slide Mountain. Or dead Man's Creek at Washoe Lake.

With shrinking budgets and rising energy costs, many of Nevada’s school districts have turned to renewable energy and energy conservation measures to save money. The Carson City School District, for example, has used the Nevada State Office of Energy’s (NSOE) Schools Program to install new LED and Super T-8 fluorescent lighting at three schools that will save them almost $80,000 in energy costs annually.
