Carson City Health and Human Services is collecting food donations for its annual Homeless Christmas. From November 15 through December 9, donate 2 cans of food and receive a voucher for a free flu shot or nasal spray vaccine, redeemable during our regularly scheduled immunization hours on Thursdays.

Carson City Sheriff's Deputies made several arrests throughout Monday. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Douglas County Sheriff's deputies have located the vehicle belonging to a Gardnerville woman missing since Friday, and believe she was killed when it rolled down an embankment near the East Fork of the Carson River.

Loraine Bosch of Gardnerville was last reported to be heading to the FISH Thrift store in Carson City in her 1986 green Ford truck on Friday. That vehicle was located Monday night, heavily damaged with a body trapped inside.

Justin Carrigan was sentenced to 6-15 years for failing to call 911 when his 4-year-old stepdaughter Rochelle Ellis stopped breathing last year, suffering permanent brain damage. A jury last month found there wasn't enough evidence that Carrigan caused his stepdaughter to stop breathing, but found him guilty of neglect. The girl had stopped breathing for approximately 6 minutes before a neighbor coaxed Carrigan to call 911.

Richard McKinley Brumette, 45, of Carson City, was arrested early this morning for felony home invasion and misdemeanor malicious destruction of property.

According to the arrest report, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy responded to the 1300 block of Como Street, where he saw the door to the victim's apartment kicked in. The victim told the deputy that her brother was intoxicated and had kicked in the door. She also said she is not close to her brother, and he does not live in that apartment.

The two parking spots that belonged to Keegan Aiazzi and Stephen Anderson, two juniors who died last year in a scuba accident off the coast of Monterey have been left empty in the CHS lot. The boys' parking spots have been blocked off from sale and won't be for sale for the rest of the school year in honor of the two boys, according to Dean Michele Lewis.

Tonight if you see your state senator and a lobbyist dining on Châteaubriand and drinking red wine in a fine Las Vegas restaurant, it's a safe bet they aren't going Dutch treat. The lobbyist will pick up the tab and no one ever will know he did.

With much fanfare in April, legislative leaders called for approval of a plan to make government more transparent to Nevadans. A few weeks later, the Senate unanimously passed a bill to require lobbyists to report their year-round expenditures on legislators.

UPDATED 5:22PM: Sad news to report. KTVN-TV confirms that Channel 2 News Sports Director JK Metzker died Sunday afternoon from injuries he suffered after being struck by a vehicle. The accident happened on North Virginia Street near 17th Street at 11:50pm last night following the University of Nevada Wolf Pack football game.
