CARSON CITY — Assemblyman Pat Hickey, R-Sparks, is asking other legislators to “lay your cards on the table.”
As the budget debate in Carson City roils to no discernible conclusion, Hickey is bringing 21 lawmakers, business leadersa and academics to the Legislature to talk taxes and government reform.
“This forum will help get out into the open things that have only been talked about behind closed doors,” Hickey said. “As moderator, I plan to press participants to speak openly about the ‘end game’ here this session.”

CARSON CITY – Bills related to immigration at the Nevada State Legislature did not make it past an important deadline last week.
One bill from Assemblyman Pat Hickey, R-Reno, would have required Nevada to use an electronic database to verify a person’s employment eligibility.

RENO — University of Nevada, Reno President Milton D. Glick died April 16, 2011. His sudden death in a Reno-area hospital following a stroke marks an incredible loss for his family, the University community and his many friends across the state of Nevada and the nation.

“Milt was a strong, extraordinarily respected leader and that, combined with his enduring belief in the power of higher education, set the stage for a remarkable legacy,” wrote University Provost Marc Johnson in an announcement to campus on Sunday morning.

Warming weather and a chance for rain may cause a rise in local streams and rivers but flooding isn't expected, according to the National Weather Service in Reno.

A low pressure system is expected to bring rain to the Sierra and Western Nevada through Monday with snow levels around 8,500 feet before falling to 7,000 feet tomorrow night. About an inch of precipitation is expected in the Central and Northern Sierra and about a half inch in Western Nevada.
