Three months after the deadly shooting rampage that left four diners dead, the Carson City IHOP is once again serving up breakfast this morning.

One of the first diners at the reopened restaurant is Sheriff Kenny Furlong, who is currently enjoying his morning meal in a place that holds some bad memories for him and his deputies who responded to the the shooting on Sept. 6. Four people who were sitting inside the restaurant died after being shot by Eduardo Sencion, who killed himself minutes later in the parking lot.

Gov. Brian Sandoval, Mayor Bob Crowell and Supervisor John McKenna were also among the first diners at the restaurant this morning.

To a packed house of observers, the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency Governing Board voted to approve Phase 1 of the Homewood Mountain Resort Ski Area Master Plan at their monthly meeting on Wednesday, December 14.

Sheriff's officers, state troopers, National Guardsmen, and a plethora of other volunteers - and their charges - middle and high school students in need of a Christmas - converged at Wal-Mart at 9 p.m. Wednesday morning for the annual Holiday with a Hero event.

With 280 low-income students to help, this year's shopping spree had to be broken up into two groups - one of middle and high school students, and one of elementary school students - spread out over two days.

Carson City Sheriff's deputies arrested Carrie Lynn Knack, 32, an office assistant from Carson City, at around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday night at the Carson City Jail. Knack turned herself in on a felony warrant of Possession of Stolen Property, Grand Larceny, and Commercial Burglary issued in her name.

Bail is set at $25,000.

Several personnel from the Nevada Highway Patrol will each be awarded a Commendation Medal this Friday for their timely, professional and outstanding performance they displayed on the morning of September 6th, in Carson City.

Shortly before 9:00 am that morning, the Nevada Department of Public Safety-Communications Center began receiving information of an active shooter near the International House of Pancakes (IHOP) restaurant on South Carson Street.

As the Toys for Tots Coordinator ....
I have never seen demand so high and donations so low.

We have had a 35% increase on requests from families this year.
Ron Wood Family Resource Center has been the Toys for Tots coordinating agency for 8 years and I have been Coordinator for 5 years.

We have been low on toys before ... but never like this.

With Christmas two weeks away, one of the best stocking stuffers for local anglers is a California fishing license. If you're planning to fish in the State of California in 2012, you'll need a new license as of Jan. 1.
