Tonight if you see your state senator and a lobbyist dining on Châteaubriand and drinking red wine in a fine Las Vegas restaurant, it's a safe bet they aren't going Dutch treat. The lobbyist will pick up the tab and no one ever will know he did.

With much fanfare in April, legislative leaders called for approval of a plan to make government more transparent to Nevadans. A few weeks later, the Senate unanimously passed a bill to require lobbyists to report their year-round expenditures on legislators.

UPDATED 5:22PM: Sad news to report. KTVN-TV confirms that Channel 2 News Sports Director JK Metzker died Sunday afternoon from injuries he suffered after being struck by a vehicle. The accident happened on North Virginia Street near 17th Street at 11:50pm last night following the University of Nevada Wolf Pack football game.

The Carson Senators defeated the Damonte Ranch Mustangs Friday night 44-17. Next week the Senators play the Miners of Bishop Manogue. That game is at Carson High School next Friday at 7:00pm in the semifinal round for the regional playoffs.

Occupy Wall Street began their two-week march from Nov. 9-23 to Washington, D.C. to tell Congress' Deficit Super Committee that the Occupy movement is against any extension of the Bush tax cuts. An extension of those cuts, which are due to expire in 2012, as well as reducing the tax rate on the highest bracket from 35 percent to 28 percent is being suggested as part of possible negotiations in creating the deficit reduction package which has a deadline of Nov. 23.

Storey County brothel owner Lance Gilman said Friday that he expects his Wild Horse Canyon Ranch brothel will be shuttered Tuesday by county officials for a violation of county ordinances that bar silent partners in brothel ownership.

Gilman, also the exclusive broker for the Tahoe-Reno Industrial Center in Storey County, admits to the violation but said his Mustang Ranch brothel and Wild Horse Saloon will be unaffected and will remain open.

A light agenda is in store for the Carson City Board of Supervisors at their next meeting on Nov. 17.

The board will hear first reading of an ordinance to allow billboards to be placed on existing and future transit shelters.

You might have seen this on in our live update box yesterday, the McKeen Motor Car on display at the Nevada State Railroad Museum has been nominated as an historical landmark by the National Historic Landmarks Committee. If the nomination is accepted, it will become to only piece of railroad equipment to secure a spot on the list of National Historic Landmarks. A weeklong effort by Carson City JobConnect has rounded up 521 job listings in the Carson City area. The effort's goal was to get more employers to list their job openings with the state's one-stop employment centers.

Friends of the Urban Forest have begun an effort to plant 10,000 trees in Carson City over the next five years. With a grant from the Nevada Division of Forestry's Urban Forest Fund, they kicked off the effort last weekend by planting 30 native cottonwood saplings in Fulstone Wetlands Park, off Northridge Drive and Russell Way.
