Douglas superintendent fired by school board following 28 years of service, must pay salary for one year

In a perhaps not-so-shocking turn of events, Keith Lewis, Douglas County School District’s Superintendent, will be terminated from his position by the Douglas County School Board after 28 years of service to the district.
However, the board will legally have to continue to pay Lewis’s salary for the remainder of his four-year contract, which began less than a year ago in November 2022.

Crash involving semi causes delays on southbound and northbound I-580 in Carson City
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Wed, 10/04/2023 - 4:53amUPDATE 7:45AM: Travel lanes are open both southbound and northbound I-580 in Carson City. A cable barrier was struck in the crash. NDOT is replacing a few hundred feet of the cable and around 80 posts.

UPDATE 6:45AM: Single lanes are open with limited travel on I-580 between Willam and Fairview. Motorists can expect delays. NDOT reports the following: Southbound traffic is currently being diverted around the area, including via East William Street.
One northbound lane of I-580 is open in the Fifth Street area, with northbound interstate traffic traveling slowly. Incident responders hope to open additional lanes soon, but motorists are advised to avoid the area.
