Five cited by Forest Service for snowmobile riding in wilderness area

Five men from the South Lake Tahoe and Carson Valley areas face fines after being cited by the U.S. Forest Service for riding snowmobiles in the Mokelumne Wilderness on the Eldorado National Forest. Snowmobiling and any kind of motorized activity is illegal in nationally-designated wilderness areas.
The riders were issued mandatory notices to appear before the federal magistrate in Sacramento.

Snow arrives at Lake Tahoe in time for ski and travel journalist conference

Travel and ski journalists from national magazines, newspapers, websites, blogs and social media outlets will arrive at South Lake Tahoe next week and be greeted with several feet of fresh snow during the North American Snowsports Journalist Association National Conference.

Carson City "40 Days For Life" Prayer Vigil Underway

Outside the new Planned Parenthood office on North Stewart Street, members of northern Nevada’s faith community are holding a silent prayer vigil as part of the 40 Days for Life campaign in the state capital. The vigil to end abortion will take place at the facility through April 1st on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays, its current days of operation. While Planned Parenthood does not perform surgical abortions there, it provides abortifacient drugs to expecting mothers.

New Study Finds Low Tax Burden For Mature Nevada Businesses But Higher Costs For New Firms

CARSON CITY – Nevada ranks at the top of states for its low overall tax liability paid by mature businesses, but only 38th for new firms due in part to a lack of incentives, according to a new comprehensive study by the Tax Foundation.
