It's Primary Election Day in Nevada; polls open until 7 p.m. in Carson City

It's officially Primary Election Day today, Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2024 in Nevada, and be sure to get your ballot in by the close of polls today to have your vote counted it the presidential primary.
As a reminder, the Nevada Republican Party has opted to host their own caucus which will be taking place on Thursday. This is the only voting mechanism that will assign delegates. The primary election for Republicans today is non-binding; however, all voters are welcome to vote in both the primary and the caucus which will not be an issue for either.

In Carson City today, the primary election is being held at the Carson City Community Center located at 851 E. William St.
According to Deputy Clerk of Elections Emily Toups, voter turnout for this primary has been slower than usual. As of 10 a.m. Tuesday, only about 75 in-person voters have come to the polls, adding to the around 760 voters who opted to vote early.
However, mail-in ballots have come in at around 4,000 so far.
"We're definitely expecting a bigger turnout for the June primary and the November election," Toups said.
There has still been confusion from in-person Republican voters who have come to cast their vote, only to find that their preferred candidate is not on the ballot.
Unfortunately, Toups said, because the Republican Party is handling the caucus, the Carson City elections team can only refer voters to call the Republican Party at (775) 841 1800 for updated caucus information. There were no Republican Party representatives on site to offer information about the caucus as of 10 a.m.
The polls at the Carson City Community Center will remain open until 7 p.m. today. As long as the voter is in line by 7 p.m., they will be able to vote.
"We just want the community to know that if they want to vote today, we're happy to have them," Toups said.
