Carson City's Catmandu introduces their Cat of the Week: Piglet

Meet Piglet, a big, handsome neutered guy who is up-to-date on all his shots. He is short-haired, basically a tabby with lots of beautiful white fur on his chest, legs and face, and big green eyes.
Piglet is a very good-looking fella with good inside manners. He is an indoor only cat.
Let’s hear from Piglet himself: “They say you never get a second chance to make a first impression. That is my biggest problem. I do NOT make a good first impression. My reaction to people I don’t know is to hiss and run away. If I don’t know you, you aren’t touching me! It’s unfortunate, but it’s just the way I am. People don’t believe that once I am comfortable with someone, I am a very sweet cat that loves pets and attention. Once you are my friend, I will happily sit on your lap and keep you company. It just takes me awhile to get to that point with someone new. And, because I’m not fond of other felines, I would like to be your one and only pet.”
Piglet is 12 years old. Cats live an average of 15-20 years, so he likely has several good years left. As a senior cat, Piglet is eligible for the Senior-2-Senior foster program. It is a wonderful program for people 55+ and cats 10+. The program provides support to the senior that takes a senior cat home, as well as subsidized vet care through All Creatures Mobile Vet Hospital.
How did Piglet end up at Catmandu you ask? Well, his first owner adopted him as a tiny kitten. He lived with her for 10 years. When she died in January 2022, he came to Catmandu with 3 other cats. Happily, Piglet went to a senior foster in July 2022, and was quite happy until tragedy struck once again when his foster Mom died unexpectedly in November 2023.
Piglet is waiting for someone who is willing to overlook his initial unfriendly reaction, and give him the time he needs to get comfortable in a new home. If that might be you, please come and meet him this weekend at Catmandu. We are located at 1829 Brown Street and we are open Friday through Sunday, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Please come early to get acquainted with the kitties.
Catmandu is a local cage-free non-profit cat sanctuary and rescue. At Catmandu we care for an average of 80 cats that would otherwise be roaming the streets of Carson City. Some cats are adoptable and waiting for forever homes. Others are sanctuary cats who are very skittish with strangers, semi-feral or medically fragile felines; they will live most if not all of their remaining years at Catmandu.
