Nevada Humane Society, Carson City’s Pet of the Week: Harpo
Happy Thursday, Carson City! Guinea Pig Appreciation Day was this past weekend on July 16. So today, we’d like you to meet Harpo, the Nevada Humane Society’s Pet of the Week in Carson City.
Harpo has been in the shelter since late May and is a little over one year old. Out of all the fresh fruits and veggies, Harpo loves carrots the most and squeaks a lot when he sees his favorite care team members!
Guinea pigs are great first pets given their low-maintenance care, strong nature, and ability to bond quickly with their owners. Harpo is easy to handle and purrs when he’s getting head pets.
Here’s how Harpo describes himself:
“Hi there! I'm just a friendly little guy. I love to cuddle with my people. I don't mind being picked up, and if you bring me something tasty, I will sing for you. I'm lonely and in need of other Guinea Pig friends. I'm very social and want to hang out. Come and meet me. I'm looking forward to meeting you too.”
Currently, the Carson City shelter is pretty full of both cats and dogs when compared to how it has been in recent months. That’s why small animals like Harpo are free to adopt right now.
If you think Harpo might be perfect for your home, please come visit and adopt him at the Nevada Humane Society’s Carson City Shelter location, located at 549 Airport Rd.
Also, it’s almost time for the Duck Race, one of Harpo’s favorite events! It’s one of the biggest fundraisers for the Shelter and takes place August 12 at Wingfield Park in Reno. You can purchase ducks for a chance to win a new 2023 Toyota Corolla or $15,000 cash, all generously donated by Carson City Toyota. Click here to learn more.
