Capital City Arts Initiative celebrates 20th year; Director Sharon Rosse to speak to Carson Rotarians
The Capital City Arts Initiative is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. Rotary Club of Carson City members will learn about the organization and its impact on our community at the next club meeting, Tuesday June 13. The public is invited to attend the noon luncheon which takes place in the Brewery Arts Center’s Grand Ballroom.
CCAI Executive Director Sharon Rosse will be the featured speaker. CCAI presents art exhibitions in four Carson City Galleries, hosts an online speaker series, and works with its high school and college partners to present their students’ art to the public.
“We also have commissioned and published companion essays for 2 of the galleries; we record artist interviews, gallery tours and the Nevada Neighbors series of cultural talks, all are available on YouTube,” Rosse says.
CCAI receives funding from numerous foundations, grants and donations which allows it to provide some unexpected services.
“People might be surprised to know that we provide honoraria to artists, writers and speakers, she explains. “As a nonprofit in the arts, it is always rewarding and a lot of work producing programs and raising funds. Plus, we have donated spaces, which means our budget is without rent and electric bills. We like to think that we are a good investment for our community.”
