Carson City arrests: Man jailed for embezzlement, admits not returning borrowed vehicle

A 60-year-old Carson City man was arrested Jan. 1 for suspicion of vehicle embezzlement, according to a sheriff's office booking report.

Mark Phillip Poirier was taken into custody at 12:27 p.m. in the 2900 block of Menlo Avenue. According to the arrest report, Carson City deputies were dispatched for a report of a stolen vehicle. Officers made contact with a witness who advised he was driving and saw his family friend's stolen vehicle being driven on East William Street.

The witness said he followed the vehicle until it came to a stop where he contacted the driver. Prior to the deputy arriving, the suspect left on foot. He was located about a block from the vehicle where he was detained, the report states.

Dispatch advised the victim had advised they had filed a stolen vehicle report with Douglas County the day prior. The report read that Poirier stole the vehicle the day prior, the report states.

The victim arrived at the location and advised that she had lent Poirier the vehicle the day prior, and told him he had to return it by 6 p.m. Dec. 31. The vehicle had not been returned. Deputies spoke with the suspect under Miranda who stated the victim lent him the vehicle the day prior and he was supposed to return it but chose not to. Bail: $20,000.

In other arrests:
— A 41-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Dec. 31 for suspicion of felony assault with a deadly weapon and misdemeanor discharging a weapon in public.

Chandra DeMaranville was taken into custody at 6:35 p.m. According to the arrest report, deputies responded to the 2400 block of North Carson Street for reports of shots fired.

The woman allegedly fired a gun following a dispute over personal possessions. The suspect allegedly produced a handgun and fired 1 round from a .40 caliber handgun, hitting the windshield of the vehicle causing a crack. Bail: $20,637.

— A 33-year-old Carson City man, Jared Hall, was arrested Jan. 2, in the 200 block of David Street for suspicion of multiple offenses including false imprisonment, preventing or dissuading a victim from reporting a crime, domestic battery, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, a warrant for conspiracy to commit grand larceny, probation violation and contempt of court.

According to the booking report, deputies with the Carson City Sheriff's Office SET team responded to assist patrol deputies with a subject barricaded inside a residence. Deputies were dispatched to the location for a report of domestic battery. While responding, deputies were advised they needed to expedite after hearing a woman screaming from the residence.

Deputies advised the male was had barricaded himself inside a room and that a female was yelling for help. Officers located the suspect and arrested him.

The victim stated she was kicked in the head during the domestic dispute. Inside the residence officers saw drugs and paraphernalia in plain view on the bed and applied for a search warrant of the residence.

A Carson City judge granted the search warrant and the residence was searched for drugs. Officers located the following items: 1.8 grams of methamphetamine, 3 meth pipes, 2 green containers with meth residue, 1 Alprazolam pill. Bail: $20,000 bondable.

— A 29-year-old Carson City man was arrested Sunday for suspicion of domestic battery, a Carson City sheriff's report states. According to the arrest report, a couple had been arguing, and the victim was allegedly pushed twice by the suspect. The suspect then allegedly smashed a fan in the bedroom, cutting himself.

Deputies observed a contusion on the center of the victim's forehead and blood belonging to the suspect on the woman's arm.

The male, who left the residence, agreed to meet with deputies at the sheriff's office and admitted to cutting his hand when he smashed the fan, causing him to bleed. He was arrested for suspicion of domestic battery. Bail: $3,137.

— A 35-year-old woman was arrested Jan. 1 for misdemeanor suspicion of domestic battery. According to the arrest report the woman allegedly bit her ex-boyfriend after she took his cell phone and saw that he was cheating on her with other women.

The victim stated that when he attempted to take the phone from her, she bit him in the left arm causing a large bruise. The victim said he grabbed the woman and held her down on the ground, while she continued to attack him, striking him in the neck and head with the phone until he was able to secure the phone, the victim told deputies.

During the altercation, a glass beer bottle was broken that cut the suspect's hand.

The suspect stated she sustained a bruise on her knee when they fell to the floor. The woman was determined to be the primary aggressor. She was arrested for suspicion of domestic battery. Bail: $3,137.

— A 28-year-old man, Christoper Michael Azevedo, was arrested Jan. 2 in the area of North Stewart and East John Street for suspicion of possession of narcotics, drug paraphernalia, domestic battery and contempt of court. Bail: $11,000.

— A 24-year-old Carson City man was arrested Jan. 2 in the 600 block of North Stewart Street on two misdemeanor warrants out of Nye County. Bail: $779.
