'Walk Us Home 5K for Foster Homes' plus resource fair happening Saturday in Carson City at McFadden Plaza
The Division of Child and Family Services, Nevada’s Department of Health and Human Services, invites the community to participate in the 2nd annual “Walk Us Home” 5K for Foster Homes on Saturday, April 27, 2024 in Carson City.
The 5-kilometer run/walk will raise funds to send Northern Nevada children in foster care to Camp Rennervation, a summer camp operated by actor and Northern Nevada resident Jeremy Renner's charitable foundation. Prizes will be awarded to top finishers across multiple categories.
In addition to the 5K, CASA of Carson City is hosting their annual Resource Fair and Community Event "Planting the Seeds of Change." Live music, games and prizes for the children!
“The organizations in our community that service children and families are such a dynamic part of building healthy, strong family units. Understanding how to connect your child with therapeutic resources, information about saving for a child’s college fund, assisting youth and adults with disabilities to further their careers, and connecting our Veterans with local resources, is what we are trying to accomplish with this community event. We are so proud to sponsor multiple agencies in connecting with the public,” said Melanie McCormick, Executive Director of CASA of Carson City.
