QPR talk in Carson City addresses 3 steps to help save a life from suicide
You are invited to join us for a QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) Talk: 3 Steps to Help Save a Life from Suicide, Tuesday, April 25 from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m at the UNR Extension, Carson City/Storey County Office, 2621 Northgate Lane, Suite 12, Carson City.
UNR Extension is offering this introductory two-hour research-based program to help address concerns voiced by community members about the need to lessen the number of suicides reported during and after the COVID pandemic.
Training will be led by Dr. Brenda Freeman, a UNR Extension Specialist and Professor with the College of Education and Human Development.
• Heighten awareness of the signs shown by someone who may be at risk for suicide
• How to get help for someone in crisis
Question, Persuade, Refer
Like CPR, QPR is an emergency response to someone in crisis and can save lives. QPR stands for Question, Persuade, and Refer — three simple steps anyone can learn to help save a life from suicide.
This event is free and open to the public. Space is limited to the first 25 registrants. Call the UNR Extension Office at 775-887-2252 or email angelahansen@unr.edu for more information or to register.
