The Annual Feast of Chocolate, hosted by AAUW, is Saturday afternoon at the Plaza Event Center. The Vagina Monologues and One Billion Rising are both raising awareness this V-Day weekend for women’s issues.

Carson City sheriff’s weekend log: felony arrests made for vehicle theft, assault
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Sun, 02/08/2015 - 3:41pmA Carson City man was arrested Friday, 10:30 a.m. on suspicion of possessing a stolen vehicle after a brief vehicle pursuit with officers, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
Arrested was Adrian Garcia Montez, 21, of Carson City. Bail has been set at $25,000. According to the booking report, deputies were dispatched to a call of an occupied stolen vehicle that was being followed by the victim.

Midnight deadline tonight to register for BAC's St. Patrick's-themed filmmaking competition
Submitted by editor on Sat, 02/07/2015 - 7:19pmThe Brewery Arts Center, Carson TV and Wired Wednesday Digital Arts Club announce a new film competition, the first "St. Paddy's Film Crawl: A Short Filmmaking Competition" with screening and judging March 14. Registration deadline has been extended to midnight, Wednesday, March 4.
Films cannot be less than 1 minute or more than 10 minutes in length. They must utilize one fact about St. Patrick's Day and can be Documentary or Mockumentary in nature.

Diabetes Class in Spanish

The class begins on Thursday, January 29, 2015 at the Boys and Girls Club, 1870 Russel Way. The class is every Thursday morning for 7 sessions from 8:30 am until 11:15 am. (the first class will end at 10:00). Standford University designed this program so that diabetics can improve their health. People with diabetes, pre-diabetes, and family members of diabetics are welcome to attend. The class will be conducted in Spanish only. To register call 775-885-1055.

Students looking forward to the privilege of driving in the State of Nevada are expected to attend school at least 90 percent of the time and not be considered a “Habitual Truant.”

All NDA organic certified operations are required to use new forms starting with the 2015 renewals due March 31, 2015.
WNC offers new Spring driver education classes

Three classes will meet on the WNC Carson City Campus Saturdays, Feb. 21-March 14, Monday-Thursday, April 6-9 (Carson High School spring break) and Saturdays, April 18-May 9.

5th Annual Carson High School Safe Grad 5k Run/Walk

Carson High Safe Grad program has been an annual tradition in Carson City since 1988. It provides our graduating seniors with a safe and sober, all night celebration on the evening of their graduation, followed by an optional trip to Six Flags Discovery Kingdom amusement park in Northern California.

Submitted by Danielle Cook on Mon, 01/05/2015 - 4:18pmThe Centennial Slug it Out 5/10K is part of the Winter Trail Series offered by Ascent Runs. Starting at 9 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 10 at Centennial Park, this run will get your blood pumping and your New Year's resolution off to a great start.
You'll want to park north of the baseball fields, past the tennis courts. Look for the blue truck and pop-up tents. It is predominantly a single track trail with some technical rocky sections. This is wild horse country. If you don't run into some wild horses, you will definitely run into some wild horse manure.
Introduction to Bees and Beekeeping

The workshop will be held at the Jeanne Dini Center in Yerington from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM and will include lunch and snacks. Written materials will also be provided to participants.
Handful of DUI, assault arrests over mostly quiet New Year’s in Carson City
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Thu, 01/01/2015 - 9:24amA 31-year-old man was arrested Thursday, 12:58 a.m. in the 2600 block of Highway 50 East on suspicion of DUI, driving in the middle lane for 200 feet and violation of bail conditions, all misdemeanors, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
According to the arrest report, officers stopped the Dayton man after observing him enter the middle driving lane past Airport Road where he traveled approximately 500 feet in the center before stopping at the red light at Highway 50 and Lompa Lane.
