Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of events around the Carson City region over the next three days, including the Carson City Fair, Karson Kruzers Run What Cha Brung car show, a fundraiser bike ride, cooking classes, tours at the Nevada State Museum, train rides on Saturday and much more!

Hosted by Epic Rides, the fourth annual Carson City Off-Road will cruise the local mountainsides and the streets of the capital city's downtown this Friday through Sunday.

The Epic Rides Off-Road Series is a nationally recognized mountain bike festival featuring endurance racing, music, biking exhibitions and more. The City entered into a five-year agreement with Epic Rides and the Carson City Culture and Tourism Authority regarding the Carson City Off-Road event to be held the third weekend of each June.

Happy Saturday, Carson City! There are a ton of events going on in our beautiful capital city today as we officially head into summer following yesterday's solstice. The 16th Motor Officer Challenge kicks off Friday at 7 a.m. at Mills Park. Lace up the shoes for a Friday morning walk at East Silver Saddle Ranch hosted by Muscle Powered.

Heading into Tuesday, June 18, 2019 we're looking at continued warming around the region with a daytime high around 91. Temperatures are expected to actually lower toward the end of the week. Events around town Tuesday include a Muscle Powered walk, hike and bike ride, yoga, exercises for the mind and body hosted by the Carson City Emblem Club, political gatherings, art activities and more.

The Carson City Elk’s Club is hosting a special speaker on Tuesday, June 18 discussing mental and physical exercises that can make a difference in everyday life.

Carson City Emblem Club # 507 will present Lisa Taylor, Community Educator from University of Nevada Cooperative Extension Service to lead the discussion.

Carson City Elks Lodge No. 2177 is proudly hosting the first Charity Poker Run on Saturday, June 22, 2019. All proceeds benefit local veteran charities. The poker run is open to motorcycles and cars older than 1970.

Pre-Registration will be held at the Elks Lodge located at 515 N. Nevada St. from 2 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, June 1, 2019. Day of Event registration will be from 9 to 11 a.m. There will be a Bloody Martha Bar available for adult beverages.

Entry is only $25 per driver and $10 per passenger for either a bike or car. Registration includes breakfast at the Lodge.

Here is the Carson City area road report for the week of Oct. 15-21. Work continues on the Downtown Curry Streetscape Project. Among plans this week are:

Uniformed first responders will be serving up tea, food and holiday goodwill at the Carson City Elks Lodge Fall Tea on Sunday, Oct. 14. All proceeds from the tea will go toward providing a proper Christmas to children in need through the Holiday with a Hero program.

Take a stroll with Muscle Powered: today’s hike will wind through the far east side of Carson, from Silver Saddle Ranch to Mexican Dam. Artsy Fartsy Art Galley hosts an artist meet and greet for Catherine King; enjoy a glass of wine while discovering her newest work. Head down the rabbit hole, and you may wind up on McFadden Plaza. The Carson City Classic Cinema Club brings the recent live-action version of Alice in Wonderland to the big screen on the downtown stage.

I have long found it impossible to decide which Carson City event is my favorite: forever waffling between Nevada Day and the Taste of Downtown. Seeing as the annual parade is still months away, I’m going to side with ‘The Taste’ purely for its timeliness. With over forty local eateries participating, multiple raffles at downtown shops, and seven bands rocking every corner of the event, it’s practically impossible to have a bad time. This might be the biggest happening in town, but it’s by no means the only good time: read on for all this weekend’s options.

The Capital City Community Band has a free concert and ice cream social scheduled for this afternoon at the First United Methodist Church. All are welcome, and it’s hard to argue with ice cream on a day like this.
