Carson City sheriff's deputies arrest man after 2,000 grams of meth found inside car trunk

A 46-year-old Los Angeles, Calif., man was jailed early Tuesday morning on felony charges of drug trafficking and sale after approximately 2,000 grams of meth was found inside a car, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said.

Jose Reyes Andrade was arrested at 4:32 a.m. in the 100 block of East Long Street. Bail has been set at $270,000.

According to the arrest report, a Carson City deputy on patrol observed a Volkswagon Passat with Nevada license plates in front of closed businesses. The registered owner of the vehicle had a confirmed warrant.

Carson City sheriff's deputies log several misdemeanor-related arrests over weekend

The following misdemeanor arrests were made by Carson City sheriff's deputies from Friday, June 13, 2014 to Monday morning, June 16.
A 50-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday, 8:26 a.m. in the 1900 block of North Carson Street on a misdemeanor warrant for petit larceny issued June 5, 2014 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $500.

Carson City Sheriff's Office hosts 11th motorcycle competition

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office hosted the eleventh annual Carson City Sheriff Motors Competition this previous Friday and Saturday right smack in the middle of Carson Street in Carson City. Along with the Motors Competition was the Legends of the West Bike and Car Fest. The duo of the events brought mass crowds of locals and even drew competitors from clear across the country.

UPDATE: 11:10PM: Two women were found dead Friday night in a Washoe Valley home while the suspect was killed in a shootout after a high speed chase on Highway 50 that began in Carson City and ended at Sand Mountain Recreation Area in Churchill County. One man was shot and injured and is at Renown Medical Center in Reno, said Washoe County Sheriff's Office Detective Lt. Tom Green. His condition is unknown at this time.

The suspect is believed to have stolen a white Jeep Cherokee, which was registered to the residence, Green said. Inside the garage of the home was a pickup with Arizona license plates. Detectives are trying to determine if the pickup belonged to the suspect, said Green.

UPDATE 9:15 PM: The suspect in a Washoe Valley shooting earlier tonight is dead, confirmed Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong who was at the scene. No officers were hurt. Multiple agencies were involved in the pursuit, which began in Carson City on Highway 50 East and ended at a campground in the Sand Mountain Recreation Area. The campground was evacuated. At least eight Carson City sheriff's officers were involved in the pursuit.

UPDATE 855PM: Suspect reported down in the Sand Mountain Area in Churchill County after a shootout with law enforcement. Officers on the scene said the chase has ended. More information forthcoming as it becomes available.

Carson City sheriff's SET team arrest two on felony drug charges

A 21-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Thursday on a felony charge of suspicion of maintaining a house where drugs are sold, used or both, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said.

Officers with the Sheriff's Office Special Enforcement Team arrested Stacy Babb at a Jeanell Drive apartment where several had complained about recent drug activity going on. Her bail was set at $21,137.

Carson City sheriff's deputies arrest man on felony child neglect charge

A 39-year-old Carson City man was arrested Wednesday on a felony charge of child neglect after he was found intoxicated with his young daughter in a department store fitting room, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said.

Robert Brent Key is in Carson City Jail on $40,150 bail. According to the arrest report, deputies were called to the department store at 8:56 p.m. in the 3800 block of South Carson Street after store employees reported a heavily intoxicated man who was knocking over clothing racks.

Carson City Sheriff's Office arrest log for Wednesday

A 20-year-old man was arrested early Wednesday in the area of Carson and 7th Street on a misdemeanor charge of violation of bail conditions, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said.

According to the arrest report, the deputy made contact with two people at a convenience store in the 700 block of South Carson Street. The officer recognized the two from prior contact and knew they should not have been in contact with each because of a forthcoming domestic battery hearing.

Carson City sheriff's SET officers arrest man on felony drug charge

The Carson City Sheriff's Office made the following arrests Thursday. Those facing criminal charges are innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.

A 25-year-old Carson City man was arrested Thursday, 6:56 p.m. in the 2200 block of Eastridge Lane on suspicion of felony possession of a controlled substance.

Officers with the Carson City Special Enforcement Team found five small tied multi-colored balloons, a hypodermic device, a pen barrel with residue and multiple pieces of aluminum foil with residue believed to be heroin inside a residence.

At least five residents have filed reports with the Carson City Sheriff's Office in the past two days after a telephone scam that involved so-called NV Energy bill collectors. Of the five complaints being investigated, three residents were defrauded of several hundred dollars, a deputy said Wednesday.

A 23-year-old Carson City man faces felony burglary and drug charges after allegedly walking out of Kohl's department store Sunday with merchandise, a Carson City Sheriff's Office deputy said.

Jac Michael Owen was arrested after store security observed him take a t-shirt and two pairs of shorts into the fitting room and then exiting with them concealed. The security guard stated the man then left the store without attempting to pay for the items, leaving in a 2002 Chrysler Prowler.

Two arrested in early Sunday robbery of elderly Carson City man and caretaker

Two men are in custody Wednesday night following Sunday's armed robbery of an elderly man and caretaker inside a Canvasback Drive home, said Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong.

Detectives with the Carson City Sheriff’s Office arrested Jordan Burkhart, 24, of Wellington and Robert “Robbie” Michael Hernandez, 27, of Carson CIty. Burkhart was arrested at the Carson City Sheriff’s Office without incident on a probation violation, said Furlong. Following the arrest, the search continued for Hernandez and ended in the Reno/Sparks area. Bail was set at $250,000 each.

Man jailed after Carson City sheriff's deputies find copper wire inside stolen vehicle

A 29-year-old man was arrested Tuesday on a felony charge of being in possession of stolen copper wire and burglary tools inside a stolen vehicle, according to a Carson City sheriff's deputy.

Maxwell Chinevere, a transient, was stopped by Nevada Highway Patrol troopers and subsequently arrested after an investigation by the Carson City Sheriff's Office led to the recovery of the vehicle and items stolen from a business in the 3200 block of Deer Run Road.

Carson City sheriff's detectives search for pair who robbed home at gunpoint early Sunday

Two armed men kicked in doors of a Carson City home early Sunday morning, holding two at gunpoint while taking items and demanding a safe, a Carson City Sheriff's Office detective said.

No one was hurt in the robbery, reported to the Carson City Sheriff's Office at 4:49 a.m. in the 1200 block of Canvasback Drive, said Detective Sal Acosta. Both men ransacked the home, occupied by a 101-year-old man and a caretaker, before leaving and remain at large, said Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong.

Carson City sheriff's SET officers arrest man for heroin possession following traffic stop

The Carson City Sheriff's Office Special Enforcement Team arrested a 27-year-old Dayton man Thursday after a needle filled with heroin was found after a traffic stop. David Scott Illig was arrested at 7:52 p.m. in the 3300 block of Highway 50 East.

According to the arrest report, a SET team officer patrolling noticed a white Mercury Topaz without license plates, traveling east on Highway 50.

Carson City sheriff's candidates square off on staffing, drugs and policing

With early voting in Nevada's primary election beginning Saturday, Carson City residents learned more about some of the philosophies of candidates in the contested races during Wednesday night's candidate forum hosted by the Carson City Chamber of Commerce.

The Performance Hall of the BAC was a full house for the forum, with hardly an empty seat found for the first segment where the candidates for sheriff were questioned. The audience was reduced to about half after the sheriff's candidate portion ended.

Man arrested in ATM robbery at Bank of America in Carson City

UPDATE: A 36-year-old man is in custody this morning after allegedly robbing a customer at an ATM machine in front of Bank of America on William Street in Carson City.

The suspect, Fernando Romero, allegedly stole $340 from a customer who was using an ATM machine in the robbery. He is being held on a robbery charge with a bail amount of $40,000.

Carson City sheriff's deputies arrest couple on domestic battery, obstructing charges

A 20-year-old Carson City man was arrested Tuesday in the 2000 block of West College Parkway on suspicion of domestic battery, resisting a police officer and marijuana possession, according to a Carson City sheriff's deputy.

Officers were dispatched to a motel in the 2700 block of South Carson Street at 7:43 p.m. on a report of domestic battery. Officers were told a woman was bleeding profusely from her face and that a man told her to get into a car. The woman complied and the vehicle left the scene.

Two people were jailed Saturday on multiple felony drug charges after allegedly selling heroin to an informant, according to the Carson City Sheriff's Office Special Enforcement Team.

Kevin Shaw, and Sarah J. Jones-Nicholson, both 35 and from Carson City, were arrested at 10:18 p.m. in the 3200 block of North Carson Street.

Carson City sheriff's detectives seek help in locating missing woman

A 42-year-old woman is missing and may be in danger, a Carson City Sheriff's Office detective said Friday. Stephanie J. Pheasant of Carson City was reported missing by family on April 22. Her family has not seen her since February 2014, said Carson City Detective Doug Speegle.

She is known to frequent hotels and has no known vehicles. She was a victim in a November 2013 domestic battery incident and may be in the company of the defendant, Steven Ray Johnson, whose whearabouts are also unknown, said Speegle.

Carson City Sheriff's Office nabs suspected Lake Tahoe bank robber

UPDATE: A suspect in a Friday morning bank robbery at Lake Tahoe was taken into custody in Carson City after being located by the Carson City Sheriff's Office, authorities said.

The suspect, Brent Muir, 55, of Carson City, was found by Carson City Sheriff's Office Sgt. Mike Cullen after a vehicle pursuit by the FBI, Nevada Highway Patrol, Douglas County, Washoe County and Placer County, Calif., law officers.
