Carson City native and professional boxing lightweight Diego Elizondo lost to Eric Puente by majority decision on Tuesday during the Top Rank Boxing Summer Series at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Celebrate 135 years at Piper’s Opera House in Virginia City, Nev. on Friday, March 6. Piper’s Opera House bravely opened for the third time in 1885 after burning to the ground twice before. Never has there been a gathering space in Virginia City for events such as melodramatic theater, political rallies, boxing matches, roller skating, and elegant balls.

For the first time, the general public can get a glimpse of life at Stewart Indian School, 130 years after the government boarding school opened in Carson City and 40 years after it was closed.

What is Fight Camp? It is a mix of martial art drills, acrobatic conditioning, circus conditioning and boot camp style circuit. Fight camp is excellent for any athlete looking to cross train to up their game, or for the family wanting to stay fit and have fun at the same time. 3 classes a week offered! An 18-year-old Carson High School student was arrested Tuesday after a disturbance at the school, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said.

Carson City boxer Diego Elizondo hasn’t fought in a year, but he’s hardly been inactive.

Since his third professional bout last May, the 20-year-old was married. On Dec. 23, Diego and Veronica Elizondo had a baby daughter, Violeta.
