A 33-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday for suspicion of possession of a stolen bicycle among other alleged offenses, a sheriff's booking report states.

First responders from around the area waited on diners at Bodine's Casino and SlotWorld in Carson City Saturday, part of the Feast with a Hero fundraiser that raises money for the local Holiday with a Hero program.

The annual Carson City Smackdown Rodeo returns to the Nevada state capital this Friday and Saturday, June 1-2 at the Fuji Park Fairgrounds and Rodeo Arena.

The 2018 Carl Cox Memorial Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Nevada takes place June 1 in Carson City.

The 2017 Carson City Fair was in full swing Friday, but the evevning's highlight was opening night of the Bulls, Broncs and Barrels Smackdown Rodeo held at the Carson City Fairgrounds Rodeo Arena.

Returning for a 24th year is the Boys and Girls Club of Western Nevada (BGCWN) Luau auction and barbecue to be held Saturday, Sept. 9 from 5 to 10 p.m. at the Multipurpose Athletic Center (MAC) and the BGCWN main campus on Russell Way in Carson City.

Plans to open a second Bodine's Casino and Restaurant in Carson City are progressing, said Carson Valley Inn Public Relations Manager Bill Henderson.

Carson City's Board of Supervisors voted 2-1 Thursday to approve the transfer of the former Horseshoe Club's gaming license from Nevada Treasure Chest to Silver Bullet of Nevada, LLC, which owns Bodine’s Casino.

Bodine’s Casino in Carson City has submitted a special use permit application with the city to open a second restaurant and casino inside the North Town Plaza in north Carson City, the August Community Development Report shows.

Nevada JobConnect will hold two job fairs this week, Wednesday, in Reno and Thursday in Carson City. The job fairs are from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day.

The job fair on Wednesday will be held at the Summit Mall at 13945 S. Virginia Street, Suite 636 in Reno and the Thursday job fair will be held at the Carson City Fuji Park Exhibit Hall at 601 Old Clear Creek Road.

As I have done for many years, my last article of the year, each year, is to present the Don Q Awards for a number of different reasons. Those reasons include such assorted things as: Outstanding, memorable, good, not so good, questionable, bad, serious, funny, dumb, head-scratching, are-you-kidding, etc.

These awards are presented to all kinds of people or places or things for what has occurred throughout the year.
It’s a fun way to end the year for yours truly.

As I look forward to the year of 2015 with high expectations, hopes and dreams, this is a good time to reflect back on some selected personal memories from the rapidly ending year of 2014.
Here are my top memories of this year, ranging all the way from right here in our very own Carson City to two islands in faraway Hawaii.

Last week, Rob Buonamici of Carson City and I spent a fun-filled day, "supposedly" scouting for buck mule deer.
I say supposedly, because we actually spent the day, having a ton of fun, enjoying the scenery and my taking a whole bunch of photos (over 60!) We were in Nevada's Big Game Management Area 192.

That Management Area is bounded by U.S. 50 on the north side, the California state line on the south side, U.S. 395 on the east side and Lake Tahoe on the west side.

Pie to the Rescue, a consortium of 20 Carson City chefs who are donating their time and talent to bake Thanksgiving pies, will be taking orders at the Carson High School Craft Fair through 4 p.m. Saturday.
Choose from three delicious pies, Pumpkin, Pecan or Apple, and pick up them up, Wednesday, November 21, in time for Thanksgiving. Proceeds benefit the Ron Wood Community Essentials Food Bank, the Family Vision Food Truck and the Our Time Outreach Center.
