Our Tuesday, Feb. 4 walk is at Northridge. Meet in the Multi-Purpose Athletic Center's (MAC) parking lot at 1860 Russell Way. We will walk in the Northridge neighborhood. Flashlight required.

The Tuesday morning, Feb. 4 walk will be held at John Mankins Park, East. No dogs allowed in park. Meet at 3051 Oak Ridge Drive and West College Parkway. The walk is along a pavement trail.

Carson City area weather: Sunny and warm into Saturday, wind and snow return Sunday

Heading into the weekend it sure will seem like spring around the Carson City region and even up at Lake Tahoe, with ample sunshine and near record high temperatures. By Sunday though, that will change as a strong cold front brings much colder and windier conditions with a possible quick round of snow, according to the National Weather Service.

CARSON CITY — The Carson Ranger District on the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest is pleased to announce the return of the popular Forest Ranger-led snowshoe walks. The walks begin this Saturday, Jan. 25, and will be offered every Saturday through March 28.

Misfits Theater Group Holds Auditions for Spring Melodrama

The Misfits Theater Group in Dayton is holding auditions for its Spring melodrama “Showdown at Phingerdoo or Bad Day at Dead Frog Flats” on Sunday, January 26 at 6 p.m. at the Dayton Library, 321 Dayton Valley Rd, Dayton. This old-time melodrama directed by Andra Woolman is set in the Wild West and has a cast of eight (8) men and five (5) women. As with all melodramas, good triumphs over evil, love wins out, and laughs abound! Performance dates are April 24, 25, 26 and May 1, 2, 3 at the Odeon Hall in Dayton. Carson City man lands 9-plus pound rainbow at Topaz Lake

Carson City resident Joe Lash has been fishing the Lake Topaz opener for 10 years. This New Year's Day event turned out to be OK, initially. Lash and his girlfriend, Lisa Edmonds, caught two fish. But it was what happened Jan. 2, that made his fishing day stand out from all the rest.

Carson City deputies arrest woman for second domestic battery

A 34-year-old Carson City woman was arrested for domestic battery second offense after allegedly attacking her ex.

According to the report, deputies were dispatched to a residence on Wednesday on a report of a domestic battery. Upon arrival they spoke with the reporting party who said the woman is the mother of their child, who had arrived at the home uninvited.
