Show times are forthcoming. Check back for updates.

The line up is as follows:

June 22: Adrian + Meredith (Americana)
Adrian and Meredith have been tirelessly touring since 2015, playing over 150 energetic live shows per year across the USA and Europe. Their eclectic Americana embodies the spirit of the human story through a fusion of punk attitude, folk heart, polka flavor, and swing bounce. Reviewers praise their “barn-burner” concerts full of romantic storytelling, wry humor, and musical diversity. Their new EP recorded with members of Squirrel Nut Zippers, Punch Brothers, and others will release in 2024. Come see their “roots rock perfection!”

Opening Act: The Kilowatt Hours

June 29: Urban Renewal Project (Jazz/Hip Hop/Vintage Soul)
The Urban Renewal Project is a sixteen-piece collective known for its genre-bending original music that combines elements of jazz, hiphop and vintage soul, and for its explosive live performances that have captivated audiences from SXSW to the Java Jazz Festival. Building off the success of recent singles “Will to Survive” featuring Vic Mensa & “Don’t Ask Y” featuring Camp Lo the group is putting the finishing touches on its fourth album, set for release later this year.

Opening Act: TBA

July 6: Dennis Jones (Blues)
Dennis Jone’s feet are firmly rooted in the past, yet his heart and soul are connected to the present. He writes songs that seamlessly blend the best of both worlds, presenting a unique and contemporary style of American rock and blues. And he isn’t afraid to tackle the controversial issues of today. Dennis has written songs for other notable artists as well, including Guitar Shorty! Dennis was honored with a Jus Blues Bobby Rush Blues Entertainer
Award in Tunica, MS on August 3, 2023. He also spent three years playing guitar with The Bus Boys (the boys are back in town) and with The Zac Harmon Band, when they won first place in the 2004 Blues Music Awards Competition in Memphis TN.

Opening Act: TBA

July 13: Van Goat (Swing Punk)
Van Goat’s loud, heavy surf-rock contrasts with swing and jazz; country with groove-centered funk, making for a dynamic and lively listening experience. Nobody Cares is out now. “Back in the ’30s and ’40s, swing was a high-energy dance music that people would dance to ’til they passed out. These days, if a band starts up with the clarinets and the ride cymbals, you’ll probably start picturing your great grandpa doing the jitterbug. Oakland’s Van Goat breathes a healthy dose of punk rock into swing by stripping it down, raw and so energetic that you’ll want to upstage your granddaddy on the dance floor.” – Good Times Santa Cruz

Opening Act: TBA

July 20: Qiensave (Cumbia Urbana)
Qiensave is a Cumbia Urbana group from Salinas California with roots stretching back to Michoacán, Mexico. They create high energy dance music that has fortunately blessed them with the opportunity to travel throughout California, Arizona, Mexico, and Colombia. Qiensave recently released their sophomore album “Mujer” via ONErpm Music, which includes singles produced by world-renowned and Latin Grammy-nominated musician Eric Canales and Platinum Producer Sam Pura. Touring has given Qiensave the opportunity to share the stage with acts like Celso Piña, Grupo Kual, La Santa Cecilia, Fuerza de Tijuana, and La Septima Banda among others.

Opening Act: TBA

July 27: False Rhythms (Reggae)
False Rhythms is a 5 piece rock/reggae band founded by two brothers; Dalton and Garrett Moore from the Washoe Tribe of Gardnerville, NV. False Rhythms takes inspiration from many musical backgrounds such as rock, metal, and funk, constantly blurring lines between genres. Funk flavor comes bass lines dropped by Austin Hawkins, mind melting guitar solos are provided by lead guitarist Garrett Moore, jazzy chord progressions and powerful lyrics flow from lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Dalton Moore, high energy beats and drum fills by Robbie Wheeler hold down the foundation, and it all gets brought together by psychedelic synth/keyboardist Chris Shotts.

Opening Act: TBA

Aug. 3: Big Brother & The Holding Co. (Classic Rock)
Big Brother & The Holding Company are considered, along with the Grateful Dead and Jefferson Airplane, the pioneers of the San Francisco Sound. They are recognized in the history of rock and roll as the band that launched the career of the great Janis Joplin. They are the band that recorded “Cheap Thrills”, which many consider to be the definitive record of Janis’s greatest singing. Rolling Stone Magazine listed “Cheap Thrills” as one of the greatest albums of all time, and Big Brother’s version of “Piece of My Heart” has been included in the Grammy Hall of Fame and the Library of Congress. Original members Peter Albin (bass) and Dave Getz (drums) have been playing together for 59 years and continue to bring this legendary music that they created with Janis to audiences all over the world. Darby Gould of Jefferson Starship will front the band with her soaring vocals.

Opening Act: TBA

Aug. 10: Wicked Tinkers (Celtic)
Since 1995 the Wicked Tinkers have been playing ancient rhythms and forgotten sounds. Their music isn’t typical pipe band fare. They have reimagined the music for the twenty-first century. They aim to create a sound that is both “ancient and hauntingly familiar” with use of bagpipes, tribal drums, didgeridoos, a Bronze-Age Irish horn paired with a modern, rock-and-roll energy; their music will transport you back in time and get an audience of their feet with a raw, primal, and exciting sound. The Wicked Tinkers pioneered the Tribal Celtic sound now played by several other Scottish bands around the globe. The band is beloved by kids from 1 – 100 and every show is different as they never follow a script. Come experience the Tribal Celtic sound of the Wicked Tinkers and join the party!

Opening Act: TBA

Aug. 17: Lance & Lea (Country)
Lea grew up Amish, listening to country music and singing in church. Lance grew up playing in a rock band on the Texas club scene. The two met randomly in Nashville, TN and after their first songwriting session together, formed a duo. Marked by old school country/rock influences with Texas blues guitar, storytelling lyrics, and soothing harmonies, their collaborative genius is on fire with over 500 songs written. Their music has garnered airplay in the UK, Ireland, and in Music City – Nashville Tennessee. Lance & Lea won “New Artist Of The Year” at the 2019 iHeart Radio Rocky Mountain Country Music Awards and were nominated for “Album Of The Year” at the 2020 iHeart Radio RMCMA’s

Opening Act: TBA

Aug. 24: Igor & The Red Elvises (Eastern European Surf Rock)
Igor Yuzov was born in Germany, raised in Ukraine and studied in Russia. He grew up in the former Soviet Union, where folk music was the norm and rock’n’roll was illegal. A rebellious streak led him to seek out the forbidden music. As soon as it became possible Igor left Russia for America with his “Folk’n’Roll” band Limpopo, and was personally greeted by Ronald Reagan. As an independent band, Red Elvises have produced 12 studio albums, two live albums, a live concert DVD, and a Greatest Hits compilation. Some of their most notable film contributions include music and or performances in “Six String Samurai”, “Mail Order Bride”, “Armageddon”, “Skippy”, “Melrose Place”, “Fastlane”, “Penn and Teller’s Sin City Extravaganza”, “VH-1 Behind the Music”, and “MTV”. Red Elvises have performed for large festivals, private parties, and played on massive stages such as 2005’s Live 8 Benefit Concert. No matter where they perform, Igor & Red Elvises always bring the party with them.

Opening Act: The Sun Rays

We will update with more information when it becomes available.

For more information, please visit https://www.breweryarts.org/.
Arts and Entertainment Tue, 28 May 2024 22:09:12 +0000 Kelsey Penrose 130886 at https://carsonnow.org Carson City detectives seek thief who stole car dealership supplies, security camera https://carsonnow.org/story/05/28/2024/carson-city-detectives-seek-thief-who-stole-car-dealership-supplies-security-camera
<fb:like href="https://carsonnow.org/story/05/28/2024/carson-city-detectives-seek-thief-who-stole-car-dealership-supplies-security-camera" send="false" layout="button_count" show_faces="false" width="350" action="like" font="arial" colorscheme="light"></fb:like>

Carson City Sheriff's Office investigators are seeking the identity of a thief who allegedly stole detailing supplies from a Carson City auto dealership and then a few days later returned and stole the surveillance camera installed in an attempt to catch them in the act.
The first theft at Carson City Hyundai, 3659 S Carson St., happened May 18 where the thief allegedly stole detailing supplies.
Carson City sheriff's detectives believe the same thief returned May 24 attempting to steal more and spotted the surveillance camera and stole that as well.
If you know the man in this video, contact Carson City Sheriff's Office dispatch at (775) 887-2677 or Detective Sam Hatley at (775) 283-7852. He was also booked for misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. According to the booking report deputies were dispatched to the 4100 block of South Carson Street for a report of a stolen vehicle.

The reporting party advised someone stole his vehicle while he was inside a convenience store gas station. Deputies began investigating and observed camera surveillance of the suspect at the convenience store.

While officers were investigating, Douglas County dispatch advised sheriff's deputies located the stolen vehicle in the 3100 block of Highway 395 in Minden at an RV resort and had the suspect detained.

The suspect, Jason Suttner, said to officers that he was just trying to "get home" and and didn't mean any harm. "If I didn't make it home I was going to write a note saying please take me back to the AM/PM in Carson City, I'm sorry," the report states.

Also located on the man was a pipe for smoking narcotics. The man stated he smoked about a "gram of fentanyl a day" stating the pipe is "trash" and "it's an old habit that's about to disappear." Bail: $40,000.

In other arrests:
— Two people were booked Saturday for their involvement in the theft of more than $1,800 in merchandise from Kohl's, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.

Maurice Divan Garcia, 46, was taken into custody for suspicion of felony grand larceny and possession of credit cards belonging to another person. A 43-year-old woman was arrested for suspicion of gross misdemeanor conspiracy to commit grand larceny, misdemeanor failure to yield and DUI drugs.

According to the booking report, dispatch received a call about a man who walked out of the Kohl's store with several suits and got into a white van driven by a female.

A deputy located the van and attempted to pull it over. It would not stop, continuing to travel 28 mph in a 45 mph zone, the report states. The van made a u-turn at Silver Oak Drive and stopped on North Carson Street. The female driver complied with commands and she was detained and read her Miranda warning. She stated she would talk. She confirmed she had come from a parking lot at Kohl's. She admitted to smoking marijuana and had red watery eyes and slurred speech, according to the report.

She showed signs of impairment and admitted to smoking marijuana within the last 2-3 hours. She was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI drugs based on the failure to yeild to a patrol vehicle, her speech, eye movement and results from standardized field sobriety tests.

She was asked if officers could search the vehicle. She said they would have to ask Maurice Garcia since it was his vehicle.

Officers spoke with the man, who denied consent to search the vehicle. A K-9, Kato, was deployed and alerted to drugs in the vehicle. The vehicle was searched where several suits with Kohl's tag numbers were located. There were not illicit drugs in the van, the report states.

It was determined through the investigation that the suspect in the theft was Maurice Garcia. The total cost of all the suits stolen was $1,839.80. He was arrested and taken to jail.

While searching Garcia's wallet a deputy located two credit cards with names that were not his. He was booked for suspicion of grand larceny and possession of another person's credit cards, both felony offenses. Bail $5,000 for grand larceny and $5,000 for possession of credit cards. Bail for the woman, $2,000 for conspiracy to commit grand larceny, $1,000 for DUI drugs and $250 for failure to yield.

— A 52-year-old Reno man, Stefan Richard Delia, was arrested Saturday for suspicion of felony abuse on a vulnerable person. According to the booking report, deputies arrested the suspect after a report of a man beating another man who was disabled.

Officers located the victim, who stated he and the suspect were sitting on a park bench. The suspect got angry at the victim, who has a physical disability to his hands and could not fight back or protect himself. The deputy observed the victim had deformities on both hands. He stated the suspect hit him approximately 10 to 15 times with a closed fist, the report states.

Officers located the suspect, who was asked to take his hands out of his pockets. He tossed a pocket knife to the ground. The man was uncooperative and was detained. He was read his Miranda warning, multiple times, where he stated he didn't understand. The officer observed red marks on the man's right knuckle and an open cut near his right pinky knuckle.

The man began cussing at the officers. He was arrested and placed into a patrol car. He was booked for suspicion of abuse on a vulnerable person. He provided a breath test of .230. The victim was taken to the hospital with injuries to his head and neck. Bail: $10,000.

— A 42-year-old Sacramento, Calif., man was arrested Monday for suspicion of misdemeanor DUI. According to the booking report, a deputy was patrolling the area of West Winnie Lane and Mountain Street and observed a vehicle going 45 mph in a 25 mph zone. Radar confirmed the speed of 44 mph.

The vehicle passed the deputy and the deputy then activated their emergency lights and made a traffic stop. The officer could smell the odor of alcohol coming from the vehicle and observed the driver to have red, watery eyes and slurred speech. The officer asked the man how much he had to drink.

The man advised he didn't have very much. The officer could smell an odor of alcohol coming from the man's breath and asked him if he would be willing to submit to standardized field sobriety tests. The man agreed and showed signs of impairment on the tests. He refused to provide a preliminary breath test. Based on the observations, the officer placed him under arrest. National Trails Day allows us to recognize all the benefits we have from our local trail systems and appreciate the ability to be in nature.

On this year’s National Trails Day, Carson City Open Space will be launching the new “Trails Challenge”, a program created to encourage the exploration of Carson City’s many trails and open spaces, with one of the trails on the “Trails Challenge” being the V&T Trail. During the hike you will see trail maintenance being done and learn about the history of the V&T Trail, including the old V&T Railroad and the natural history of the plants in the area.

The hike is considered “more difficult” under the IMBA trail Rating System. Expect some uneven terrain for about 2 miles. Be sure to bring close toed shoes, snacks, and plenty of water.

Date: Saturday, June 1, 2024
Time: 9:00am – 11:30am
Location: Foothill Trailhead

Need To Know:
- Minors under 18 must be accompanied by an adult
- Dogs are allowed on leash
- Online registration is required by going here.

Strawberry Full Moon Hike
Join the Carson City Park Rangers for a moonlit hike underneath the Strawberry Moon.
