Christmas Eve storm brings rain to Carson City, snow around Lake Tahoe and Sierra
Christmas Eve turned to Christmas Day bringing plenty of rain to Carson City and snow around Lake Tahoe and Sierra.
CarsonWeather.com reports the capital city received 0.96 inch of rain in the past 24 hours. The Christmas Day forecast calls for a slight chance of snow showers and a high of 38. Wednesday will bring mostly sunny skies with highs in the low 40s, with a 20 percent chance of snow showers on Thursday, before the sunshine returns Friday through the weekend.
In the graphic above are the preliminary snowfall totals from the past 24 hours as of 8 a.m. Christmas Day, 2018. Light snow showers were to persist through the morning, with minimal if any accumulation. Keep in mind that many Sierra roads have some patches of snow and ice even after major snow removal efforts, which could affect travel. It is a good idea to leave extra time to reach your destination.
