Carson City Sheriff's arrest log: Man charged with possession, sale of erectile dysfunction drugs

A 37 year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday evening at 5:49 p.m. in the area of N. Saliman Road and E. Fifth Street on multiple felony prescription drug offenses, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported, including the transport and sale of them.

Jonathan Robert Jenkins was taken into custody following a traffic stop made by a Sheriff's deputy originally for a moving violation.

According to the arrest report, the Jeep SUV Jenkins was driving had been observed making an unlawful left turn and then tailgating another vehicle in front of him.

Contact was made with Jenkins during the stop, and the investigating deputy noted an alcoholic odor coming from inside the vehicle. Jenkins' eyes were observed to be red and watery, the report said.

Jenkins admitted to having been drinking and consented to standard field sobriety testing (SFST), the results of which showed signs of obvious impairment.

He was handcuffed and transported to the Carson City Jail at that point, the report said.

Once there, a preliminary breath test (PBT) was administered, yielding breath-alcohol content (BAC) of .109 percent.

During an inventory of Jenkins and his vehicle, deputies recovered nearly $4,900 in cash and 519 pills located in an ammunition can. The pills recovered included erectile dysfunction drugs Viagra and Cialis, medication that is only available as a prescription. The pills were arranged in push-packs and were absent any prescriptions to them, the report said.

Upon leaving the jail, the arresting deputy made contact with a family member at Jenkins' home. The family member told the deputy that Jenkins ordered pills online and went to the post office regularly to pick them up. The family said they did not know what Jenkins did with the pills and told the deputy that it was odd for him to be possession of that much cash.

A safe was located in the residence, but the family member was unsure of the combination.

Later on, the same member recontacted the deputy and brought the contents of the safe to the Sheriff's Office. Those contents included more than 1,100 prescription pills, the same type of pills found during the search of Jenkins' vehicle.

Jenkins was charged with the following offenses: Felony possession of a controlled substance, PCS for sales, transporting a controlled substance, gross misdemeanor possession of prescription drugs without a prescription, and misdemeanor first-offense driving under the influence of alcohol (DUI).

Bail: $31,371.

— A 53 year-old Carson City man panhandling Friday afternoon in the area of Retail Drive and College Parkway was arrested at 2 p.m. for misdemeanor intoxicated pedestrian and solicitation of a motorist, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported.

According to the arrest report, a Sheriff's deputy observed a subject standing in a center median and holding a sign that asked for money. When the subject spotted the patrol vehicle, he folded his sign and tried to hide it under his jacket.

The subject turned away from the deputy who called out to him and was trying to get his attention. When the subject finally turned toward the deputy, he was recognized from prior law enforcement contacts, the report said.

The subject was noted to exhibit thick, slurred speech and showed signs of intoxication.

The deputy directed the subject to step out of the median and get on the sidewalk, the report said, but he started to walk away into traffic instead of to a place of safety.

At that point, the deputy turned on his overhead emergency lights, exited the patrol vehicle and grabbed the subject before he could step into traffic. He attempted to pull away, but was unable to. The deputy then placed him in handcuffs and into the patrol vehicle.

According to the report, the arresting deputy had given the suspect multiple warnings after seeing him solicit for money on previous occasions. He was transported to the Carson City Jail and booked. Bail: $174.

— A 28 year-old transient woman was arrested late Friday night at 10:41 p.m. in the 1600 block of Medical Parkway on a misdemeanor trespassing charge, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported.

According to the arrest report, a Sheriff's deputy was dispatched to a call at Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center, where a female subject refused to leave the emergency room upon being discharged.

The charge nurse reported that the subject had been cleared for discharge and was asked to leave. But she refused, curling up into a ball in the ER bed. Law enforcement was called to escort the subject off the property, the report said.

She ignored the deputy, who made contact with her and refused to acknowledge all requests for information. The charge nurse signed to trespass the suspect from the premises and the deputy informed her that she would go to jail if she did not comply and leave the ER, the report said.

Because the suspect continued to ignore the deputy, she was escorted outside by law enforcement and placed in handcuffs. She was transported to the Carson City Jail, where she continued being uncooperative during the booking process.

Bail: $242.

— A 19 year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday night at 6:52 p.m. in the area of Rand Avenue and E. Long Street on misdemeanor marijuana possession and a Carson City Department of Alternative Sentencing (DAS) hold, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported.

According to the arrest report, a Sheriff's deputy on patrol observed two pedestrians cross Long Street away from the designated crosswalk, walking behind a vehicle that had stopped for them instead of in front of it.

The deputy stopped and contacted the two male pedestrians. The 19 year-old suspect was one of them and the deputy noticed a large lump in his sweater's front pocket.

When asked what was in the pocket and if there were any weapons on him, the suspect hesitated to answer. But he did consent to a pat-down by the officer and a search of his pocket, the report said.

A bag of marijuana was recovered from the front sweater pocket, the suspect stating that his friend had given it to him. The suspect also stated he was on probation for running from law enforcement, the report said.

A records check through Carson City Dispatch confirmed the suspect was active in the DAS system with a no drug or alcohol clause. DAS was then notified of the marijuana found on the suspect, and his probation officer requested a hold be placed on him, the report said.

The suspect was handcuffed and taken into custody at that point. He was transported to the Carson City Jail and booked without incident. Bail: $3,737.
