New 91-room, four-story extended stay hotel coming to Carson City
On Tuesday, the Carson City Planning Commission approved a special use permit that would allow for a proposed 60,000 square foot Hilton Home 2 Suites extended stay hotel located at the intersection of Silver Oak Drive and North Carson Street.
The applicant is Jaswinder Dhami, a local hotelier who previously developed the Holiday Inn Express and the Dolphin Bay Apartments.
The hotel required a special use permit because it exceeds 45 feet in height; however, the zoning of the area is retail commercial, which does allow for hotels, and the lot is adjacent to an existing hotel to the north, a commercial use to the south, and vacant land to the east and west.
The 91 rooms will be built across four stories, and will provide 106 parking spaces.
When asked what makes this hotel different from other hotels in Carson City, Dhami: “This is not a normal hotel; this is an extended stay hotel. Every room will have a full kitchen … there will be an indoor pool. There is always a demand for extended stay, and this is the high end hotel. Down the road if the city has a convention center, this will help us bring those large meetings and conventions into town.”
