Carson City arrests: Investigation leads to arrest for suspected felony third DUI

A 52-year-old woman was arrested early Monday for suspicion of felony third DUI, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office report.
Jacqueline Kae Smith was taken into custody at 4:35 a.m. following an investigation in the 2700 block of South Carson Street.
According to the booking report, officers made a traffic stop on a vehicle that matched the description of a vehicle reported to be involved in the sale of narcotics at a casino. Additionally, a CCSO sergeant witnessed the vehicle reverse out of the parking lot, strike a snowbank, briefly becoming stuck and then driving back into the parking lot.
A deputy was advised by the sergeant the driver of the vehicle had a strong odor of alcohol emanating from her person and that she admitted to drinking earlier in the evening, the report states. A passenger in the vehicle was allowed to leave after it was determined he was not the subject CCSO was looking for.
The deputy spoke with the driver, who had slurred speech and red watery eyes that were consistent with being under the influence of alcohol. The deputy asked the woman if she would be willing to perform standardized field sobriety tests. The woman would not give a yes or no answer. She also stated she needed help when she was asked to exit the vehicle, the report states.
The deputy assisted the woman exiting her vehicle and walking to dry ground. Once on dry ground, the deputy observed the woman had a slight sway when she was standing still. As the deputy attempted to explain the standardized field sobriety tests, the woman began shouting, the report states.
Based on the fact the woman was not cooperating with the field sobriety tests and showed clues of impairment, she was arrested on suspicion of DUI. During the transport, the woman began to sob and yell and would not listen to instructions, the report states.
Once at jail she agreed to perform standardized field sobriety tests and showed signs of impairment on the tests. She refused the walk and turn test and a preliminary breath test. She was read the Nevada Implied Consent Warning where she refused to provide either a breath or blood sample for evidentiary purposes, according to the report.
The deputy telephoned the on-call Carson City District Attorney and spoke with a judge who granted a seizure order for a sample of the woman's blood. While on the phone getting the order, another deputy advised the woman gave him a preliminary breath test that showed at BAC of .242. The seizure order was granted at 5:21 a.m. She was taken to Carson Tahoe Hospital for a blood draw and then taken to jail. Deputies learned the woman had two prior convictions for DUI within the past 7 years. She was booked for suspicion of DUI 3rd. Bail: $20,000.
In other arrests:
— A 28-year-old Reno man, Javier Sequoiyah, was arrested Monday in the area of North Carson Street and John Street for a felony warrant out of Reno Township Court alleging injury to personal property. Bail: $25,000.
— A 34-year-old Carson City woman, Leah Rose Turner, was booked Monday and released after turning herself in for a felony warrant alleging child abuse or neglect first offense.
— A 45-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday for a misdemeanor probation violation warrant issued by the Department of Alternative Sentencing. Bail: $3,000 cash.
— A 42-year-old Carson City man was arrested Monday for a misdemeanor failure to appear warrant issued out of Dayton Justice Court. Bail: $555 cash.
— A 33-year-old Mound House man was arrested Sunday for a misdemeanor contempt of court warrant issued out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $5,000 cash.
