Carson City arrests: Two booked for alleged possession of meth with intent to sell
Two were arrested Wednesday for suspicion of felony drug possession with intent to sell and other alleged offenses, according to a Carson City Sheriff's Office booking report.
Reynaldo Artega, 36, of Reno and Trisha Fricke, 35, of Sparks were arrested at 10:43 p.m. Both were also booked for suspicion of felony possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
Artega was additionally booked for alleged possession of a dangerous drug without a valid script, a gross misdemeanor offense.
According to the booking report, a deputy was patrolling the area of South Lompa Lane and did a random registration check on a vehicle that revealed the vehicle's registration was suspended. The deputy activated their overhead emergency lights and conducted a traffic stop.
The driver of the vehicle identified himself as Artega, and the passenger identified herself as Fricke. The deputy asked Artega where they were coming from, and he said they were visiting a friend. The report states the man was acting nervous and was unable to maintain eye contact. Artega said he was broke and could not pay for his vehicle registration.
A records check with Carson City Dispatch revealed the man was pending a status change through the Department of Parole and Probation.
A K9 conducted an exterior sniff of the vehicle and alerted positive for the presence of narcotics in the vehicle. During the search a deputy located a clear glass methamphetamine pipe and a digital scale in a black backpack sitting on the floor board of the driver's seat.
Artega was arrested for alleged possession of drug paraphernalia. While searching the man's pockets, the deputy located $300 in his left sweatshirt pocket. Originally the man told the deputy he could not pay for registration but then told a deputy the money was from gambling at a Carson City casino, the report states.
Also located was a digital scale in the right front passenger seat. The scale contained trace amounts of suspected methamphetamine. A pat search of Fricke was done where a deputy located a plastic bag containing suspected methamphetamine. She was arrested.
While searching the man's vehicle, deputies located an orange pill bottle containing 23 prescription-only medication. The bottle did not have a valid script, the report states.
All evidence was photographed and booked into the CCSO evidence vault. With the amount of methamphetamine recovered, two digital scales and $300, deputies believed the two had the intention to sell methamphetamine or had already made a sale of methamphetamine. Both were read their Miranda warning separately and agreed to speak.
Artega stated the methamphetamine pipe belonged to him but the narcotics belonged to Fricke. Fricke stated that everything belonged to Artega and that he asked her to hold the methamphetamine prior to the traffic stop. Bail: $5,000 each.
