Nevada Basin to Range Exchange program featured at Tuesday's Carson City Rotary Club meeting

The Nevada Basin to Range Exchange is the subject of the next Rotary Club of Carson City meeting. The project is an opportunity for artists, arts organizations, and businesses connected with the arts, to come together and brainstorm how to bring urban and rural arts together in Nevada.
The public is invited to attend. The meeting and luncheon take place on Tuesday, Dec. 14 at noon in the Brewery Arts Center Grand Ballroom.
Past participant Candy Webb will showcase the project which was centered around the town of Gerlach. She collaborated on the project with Scott Hinton, photographer and educator at the University of NV, Reno, and Crimson Rose, one of the founders of Burning Man.
Webb chose the Gerlach area because she lived in nearby Empire when she was very young and her father was a miner. “We wanted to create a fresh view of Gerlach. I enjoy the Black Rock Desert and Pyramid Lake just like my mother before me, so I wanted to connect with the Gerlach community,” she said. “We worked with the Gerlach K-12 school. Through Photography, oil painting, and self-portraits, we created a short film about the town.”
That film and the associated artwork was later showcased at the Walter McNamara hallway gallery at UNR.
Nevada Basin to Range Exchange, operates through the Nevada Arts Council. More than 50 artists take part in the annual event.
