Carson High School takes precautions against potential external threat, lockout lifted
Carson High School was on a brief "lockout" Thursday afternoon, which has since been lifted after an issue surfaced involving an adult outside of school property. There was at no time a threat to students and it was a precautionary measure, said Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong.
The sheriff's office was alerted of a person who may be a threat to himself and others and should not be allowed on the high school campus. The adult was not on the campus, but there was concern that the person could come to the campus, said Furlong.
A "lockout" recovers all students from outside the building, secures the building perimeter and locks all outside doors. This is implemented when there is a potential threat or hazard outside of the school, according to law enforcement.
