Activities, events lined up in December at Carson City Senior Center
The Carson City Senior Center will host a number of events and activities through December. Among them are free senior bus pass distribution days, holiday meals, a "know your rights" debt collection presentation and more. The senior center is located 911 Beverly Drive.
Movie Club
The Carson City Senior Center will host a free monthly movie on the Dec. 14 (every 2nd Wednesday of the month) at 1pm. Movies are held in the Tahoe Room at the Carson City Senior Center. Attendees are encouraged to bring snacks and a light sweater. Due to copyright restrictions, movie titles cannot be advertised however you can call the Senior Center at (775) 883-0703 for a list of showings. This month’s movie will be a classic holiday film.
Know Your Rights! Debt Collection Presentation
Nevada Legal Services will review debtors rights, what creditors are and are not allowed to do, and what actions debtors can take regarding creditors. "Collection Proof" will be reviewed for people who have income exempt from debt collection. The event is on Thursday, December 15 at 1pm at the Carson City Senior Center. Senior Bus Passes
Jump Around Carson (JAC) will be distributing free senior bus passes on Monday, December 19 and Tuesday, December 20 between 10:30am and noon in the lobby at the Carson City Senior Center. To be eligible for the free senior bus pass, applicants must be 60 years of age or older and have valid Carson City residency (bring proof of residency if not indicated on a photo ID). Passes are valid for one year as long as grant funding is available.
Holiday Meals at the Carson City Senior Center
The Carson City Senior Center will be celebrating the holidays with a Christmas Lunch on Friday, December 23, and ringing in the New Year on Friday, December 30. Lunch is served between 11am and 12:30pm at the Carson City Senior Center, 911 Beverly Drive. Lunch is a suggested donation of $2.25 for individuals 60 and older and those 59 and under must pay $6.00.
