Lyon County Sheriff's Office: No threats to Dayton schools

According to LCSO Watch Commander Lt. Pete Spinuzzi, the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office did two sweeps of the campus. “Regardless if a threat is credible or not, we respond as if it is, and we send everyone,” said Spinuzzi.
Threats were reported and investigated by the school’s Student Resource Officer yesterday, said Spinuzzi, and the threats were not deemed credible. However, rumors snowballed today throughout the school and a family member of a student alerted Lyon County dispatch about a threat of an alleged active shooter.

Lyon County law enforcement is investigating a threat made Wednesday directed at Dayton High School. A spokeswoman for the Lyon County School District said that a threat to Dayton High School came into dispatch Wednesday which forced the school to go on lock down.
The Lyon County Sheriff's Office was on scene investigating, and are doing sweeps of the campus. The spokeswoman said the threat appears to be bogus.
Earlier the school district addressed alleged comments and an investigation, and released a statement before the current incident regarding comments that were perceived as a threat.
The following was released Wednesday morning by the Lyon County School District regarding an investigation into alleged comments perceived as a threat.
Yesterday evening a student from Dayton High School allegedly made comments that were perceived as a threat. School administration immediately contacted local law enforcement who thoroughly investigated the allegation.
Law enforcement and school administration found no threat at DHS.
As a result of the prompt actions of law enforcement and administration, school operations have proceeded as normal with all students and staff safe and secure. We commend school officials, law enforcement and our community for being so diligent in reporting and investigating suspected issues. We encourage families to speak with their children about the importance of reporting suspected issues and also the dangers of false threats or information.
