Carson City crime log: Vehicle stopped for not having license plates leads to 2 arrests
A 47-year-old man was arrested Saturday for felony probation violation, while an 18-year-old man with him was arrested for possession of dangerous prescription drugs without a prescription, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.
Arrested for felony parole and probation violation was Robert Lawson White. The 18-year-old Carson City man, who was the driver involved in a traffic stop, was arrested for the gross misdemeanor prescription drug possession violation and also for not having proof of vehicle insurance.
According to the booking report, a Carson City deputy made a traffic stop in the area of California and Fairview after observing the vehicle, a green Ford Explorer traveling southbound on Carson Street, did not have front or back license plates.
White was the passenger in the vehicle. After making contact with the driver and passenger, dispatch advised White he had a priority 5 warrant from parole and probation. He was arrested. A K9 conducted an exterior sniff of the vehicle and alerted positive. A bottle of pills identified as Carbamazepine, which can only be obtained through a doctor. The passenger did not have a prescription for the pills.
White was held without bail in lieu of a hearing from the Department of Parole and Probation. The 18-year-old was arrested for possession of the pills and not having insurance. Bail: $2,374.
In other arrests:
— A 54-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Sunday, 3 a.m. in the area of Nye and Poole streets for a misdemeanor violation of suspended sentence warrant issued June 14, 2011 out of Carson City Justice Court. Bail: $3,000.
— A 24-year-old Sparks woman was Saturday for a failure to appear traffic citation warrant out of Reno Township Justice Court. The warrant was issued Aug. 2, 2018. Bail: $1,350.
